Meralco Theater is a theater located at the compound of Meralco, Ortigas Avenue in Pasig, Philippines. It used to be known as the Meralco Auditorium. [1]

Contents

It seats over 1,500 [2] people and is a popular venue for various concerts, plays, musicals and events. [3] [4]

On July 2024, Meralco Theater had renovated its interior design. Heavy speculations and possibilities has been rumored that the longest-running noontime variety and entertainment program, Eat Bulaga! will move to the theater. [5] [6]

History

The Meralco Theater was inaugurated on March 22, 1969. It was designed by Filipino architect José María Zaragoza and forms part of the larger Meralco Building, which was completed a little earlier. The 14-story building, theater and adjoining buildings form a landmark in the Ortigas Center CBD. [7]

The theater was where the staged graduation ceremony of politician Imee Marcos took place, according to University of the Philippines Cebu history professor Madrileña de la Cerna. [8]

Beyond Eat Bulaga!, Mendoza featured in the 2015 film My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore, for which she won Best Supporting Actress at the 41st Metro Manila Film Festival. She was the lead actress in the 2016 film Imagine You & Me, where she also wrote and sang its theme song. Mendoza has a passion for writing, having been a blogger even before she entered show business. <span class="mw-page-title-main">AlDub</span> Fictional couple from Filipino show "Eat Bulaga!"

AlDub was a love team which originated from the Kalyeserye portion of the "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment of the variety show Eat Bulaga! They were also called as the "phenomenal love team" due to their rise in popularity after they were accidentally paired on the July 16, 2015 episode of the Problem Solving portion of "Juan for All, All for Juan" which later became the first episode of Kalyeserye. AlDub was derived from a portmanteau of the tandem's character names in Kalyeserye, namely Filipino actor Alden Richards, who portrays a fictionalized version of himself, and Yaya Dub, portrayed by Dubsmash Queen personality and socialite actress Maine Mendoza, who initially does not talk and interacts through lip-syncing.

That's My Bae was a Filipino dance group formed in the That's My Bae: "Twerk It" Dance Contest segment of the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga!, and officially debuted on August 24, 2015, and officially disbanded in May 2019. The group is composed of six members: Kim Last, Kenneth Medrano, Joel Palencia, Tommy Peñaflor, Jon Timmons and Miggy Tolentino. Originally, it was a seven-piece group.

Kim Michael Last is a Filipino/British actor and dancer. He is known as the youngest member of the all-male dance group That's My Bae on the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga!

Zephanie Odhene Liwag Dimaranan, is a Filipino singer, actress and host. She is known as the winner of the first season of Idol Philippines. Dimaranan is dubbed as "This Generation's Pop Princess" in the country by various media outlets.
