PauknAir, also known as Melilla Jet, [3] was a Spanish regional airline which operated between 1995 and 1998. [4] The airline operated flights between various Spanish domestic destinations.

PauknAir was founded in 1995 and commenced operations in September 1995 with two BAe 146 aircraft operated on its behalf by PAN Air. [3] It was majority owned by Paukner SA, a Spanish company involved in the travel industry, with a 78% holding; private interests based in Melilla, a Spanish exclave in North Africa, held 20% of the company, with the remaining 2% held by the governing council of Melilla. [3] The airline provided air services from Melilla to Madrid and Málaga.

In November 1998, PauknAir ceased operations following the crash of PauknAir Flight 4101 on 25 September 1998. The crash caused a drop in passenger numbers for PauknAir; this sealed the fate for the airline.

The British Aerospace 146 is a short-haul and regional airliner that was manufactured in the United Kingdom by British Aerospace, later part of BAE Systems. Production ran from 1983 until 2001. Avro International Aerospace manufactured an improved version known as the Avro RJ. Production for the Avro RJ version began in 1992. Later on, a further-improved version with new engines, the Avro RJX, was announced in 1997, but only two prototypes and one production aircraft were built before production ceased in 2001. AirUK was a wholly privately owned, independent regional British airline formed in 1980 as a result of a merger involving four rival UK-based regional airlines. British and Commonwealth (B&C)-owned British Island Airways (BIA) and Air Anglia were the two dominant merger partners. The merged entity's corporate headquarters were originally located at Redhill, Surrey, the location of the old BIA head office. It subsequently relocated to Crawley, West Sussex. In addition to the main maintenance base at Norwich Airport, there also used to be a second major maintenance base at Blackpool Airport. Melilla Airport is an airport located in Melilla, an exclave of Spain in Africa. The airport is located about 4 km (2.5 mi) southwest of the city, near the border with Morocco. Between 1931 and 1967 Melilla was served by the Tauima Aerodrome, even when Morocco had gained its independence in 1956. This Spanish controlled airport did not open until 1969. It has the capacity to move up to 500,000 passengers and the annual average number of passengers is around 400,000.

TriStar Airlines was an airline based at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada. It launched operations in July 1995 with scheduled flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco and added more destinations later in the year. TriStar utilized British Aerospace 146 aircraft on its routes. In late 1996, the airline began to suffer financial difficulties due to an illegal takeover, deciding to reduce its scheduled operations in favor of the charter industry. Although it settled a lessor dispute in November 1996, TriStar ended all flights not long after in January 1997.
