The Senate of Canada is the upper house of the Parliament of Canada. Together with the Crown and the House of Commons,they compose the bicameral legislature of Canada.

Peter Michael Boehm is a Canadian politician,former diplomat and deputy minister. He was appointed to the Senate of Canada in October 2018. Boehm was ambassador of Canada to Germany from 2008 to 2012. He was associate deputy minister and then senior associate deputy minister at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada from 2012 to 2016. He became deputy minister of international development in March 2016,and on July 31,2017,was appointed deputy minister for the 2018 G7 Summit. Stephen Greene is a Canadian politician and an independent member of the Senate of Canada. He was appointed on the advice of Stephen Harper to the Senate on January 2,2009,and sat as a Conservative Senator until May 2017,when Senate Leader Larry Smith removed him for his support for Senate reform proposals put forth by the governing Liberal Party. Greene then decided to sit as an "Independent Reform" Senator.

Diane Griffin,OPEI is a Canadian conservationist from Prince Edward Island. Griffin is a former provincial deputy minister of environmental resources and a recipient of the Governor General's Conservation Award,the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the P.E.I. Environment award. She also served as executive director of the Island Nature Trust. In 2010,Griffin was awarded the Prince Edward Island Medal of Merit for her contributions to the environment of the province. On October 27,2016,Griffin was named to the Senate of Canada by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to sit as an independent. Until her appointment,she served as a councillor on the Stratford,P.E.I. town council. Griffin assumed office on November 10,2016. She subsequently jointed the Independent Senators Group. On November 4,2019,she joined the Canadian Senators Group. After turning 75 on March 18,2022,Senator Griffin retired from the senate due to mandatory retirement rules.
Marc Gold is a Canadian law professor and politician who has served as Representative of the Government in the Senate since 2020. Gold has sat as the senator for Stadacona,Quebec since he was appointed on the advice of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2016. He was a member of the Independent Senators Group (ISG) caucus from 2016 to 2020 but now sits as an Independent. Prior to his appointment as a senator,Gold taught law and was appointed associate dean at Osgoode Hall Law School.
The Senate Liberal Caucus,also known as the Senate Liberals,was,from 2014 to 2019,a parliamentary grouping in the Senate of Canada made up of independent senators who were individually members of the Liberal Party of Canada and were appointed on the advice of previous Liberal prime ministers. The caucus was not formally affiliated to or recognized by the Liberal Party.
The Independent Senators Group is a parliamentary group in the Senate of Canada. Established on March 10,2016,the Independent Senators Group is committed to a non-partisan Senate and the modernization of the Upper House of Canada's Parliament. The Independent Senators Group is the largest parliamentary group in the Senate. Composed of independents not affiliated with any political caucus,members of the group work cooperatively but act independently.

Ian Douglas Shugart was a Canadian politician,professor,and public servant who served as a senator from Ontario from September 2022 until his death in October 2023. Prior to his appointment to the Senate,Shugart held a number of senior roles within the Public Service of Canada,including as the 24th clerk of the Privy Council and secretary to the Cabinet from 2019 to 2021.
