Pleasant Hill is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States.
Pleasant Hill was the first white settlement in Lane County when Elijah Bristow settled in 1846. [2] He was the first of a party of four immigrants to settle, most recently from California. Also in the party was Eugene Skinner, Captain Felix Scott, and William Dodson. Dodson and Scott took up adjacent claims, Dodson to the southeast and Scott to the west of Bristow's claim. Scott later abandoned and claimed opposite the mouth of the Mohawk River, some 7 miles (11 km) north of his previous claim. Skinner made his claim at what is now Eugene. [3]
Pleasant Hill has survived numerous house fires and light flooding in lower areas, but the most remembered flood was in 1996. [4] The flooding resulted in no deaths but many homes were destroyed.
Pleasant Hill is 8 miles (13 km) from Creswell, in the area between the Coast Fork Willamette River and the Middle Fork Willamette River.
Public schools in Pleasant Hill include the OSAA class 3A Pleasant Hill High School and an Elementary School. Due to decreased enrollment and budget issues, Trent Elementary School has been closed. At this time, grades K-5 attend the Elementary and grades 6-12 attend the High School. Emerald Christian Academy, a private Seventh-Day Adventist K-10 school, is also located in Pleasant Hill.
Pleasant Hill was the home of author and counter-cultural figure Ken Kesey, who died in 2001. [5]

Mount Pisgah is a hill in Lane County, Oregon, United States, rising 1,060 feet (320 m) above the surrounding Willamette Valley to a maximum elevation of 1,531 feet (467 m). It was named after the biblical Mount Pisgah. It is situated between the Coast Fork and Middle Fork of the Willamette River, two miles (3 km) southeast of their confluence. Springfield is immediately north of Mount Pisgah, and the city of Eugene is a few miles west. It is the site of the 2363-acre Howard Buford Recreation Area as well as the non-profit Mount Pisgah Arboretum at its base.

Elijah Bristow State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon, administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. It has more than 10 miles (16 km) of well-maintained trails along ponds, wetlands, meadows, and the Middle Fork Willamette River, and through forests of broadleaf and evergreen trees. The trails are open to horses, hikers, and mountain bikers, and there is a separate equestrian staging area popular with riding clubs.
Dexter Reservoir is a reservoir in Lane County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is about 16 miles (26 km) southeast of Eugene on the Middle Fork Willamette River, immediately downriver from Lookout Point Lake, another reservoir. The communities of Dexter and Lowell are near the lake. Oregon Route 58 follows the lake's southern shore, while Pengra Road parallels the lake's northern shore as far east as Lowell.
The Willamette River is a 187-mile (301 km) tributary of the Columbia River in the U.S. state of Oregon. The upper tributaries of the Willamette originate in mountains south and southeast of the twin cities of Eugene and Springfield. Formed by the confluence of the Middle Fork Willamette River and Coast Fork Willamette River near Springfield, the main stem meanders generally north from source to mouth. The river's two most significant course deviations occur at Newberg, where the stream turns sharply east, and about 18 miles (29 km) downriver from Newberg, where it turns north again. Elijah Bristow (1788–1872) was the first white settler to stake a claim and build a permanent cabin in 1846 in the upper Willamette Valley, in what is now Lane County, Oregon, United States. He and his wife Susannah Gabbert Bristow established the first church and donated land for the first school in Pleasant Hill.
Coryell Pass is a gap located near Eugene in Lane County, Oregon, United States, near the confluence of the Coast Fork and Middle Fork of the Willamette River. The gap is formed by the river between Eugene's South Hills and Springfield's Quarry Butte. The pass is commemorated by a brass marker located on Franklin Boulevard, on what was formerly the route of Pacific Highway. The marker, which was placed by the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), reads "Coryell Pass, Oregon Trail, 1846, Erected by Oregon Lewis and Clark Chapter D.A.R., 1917". The pass was on the southern route of the Oregon Trail blazed by Jesse Applegate and known as the Applegate Trail.
Lost Creek is a tributary of the Middle Fork Willamette River in the U.S. state of Oregon. It begins in the Cascade Range foothills between Dorena Lake and Lookout Point Lake and flows generally north to meet the river downstream of Lowell. Along the way, it passes by the rural community of Dexter, then under Oregon Route 58, and through part of Elijah Bristow State Park. Named tributaries of Lost Creek from source to mouth are Guiley, Gossage, Carr, Middle, Anthony, and Wagner creeks.
