The Quiquijana District is one of the twelve districts in the Quispicanchi Province in Peru. Its capital is the town of Quiquijana.

The Urubamba River or Vilcamayo River is a river in Peru. Upstream it is called Vilcanota River. Within the La Convención Province the naming changes to Urubamba. A partially navigable headwater of the Amazon River, it rises in the Andes to the southeast of Cuzco. It originates on the slopes of Khunurana in the Puno Region, Melgar Province, near the La Raya pass. It flows north-north-west for 724 kilometers before coalescing with the Tambo River to form the Ucayali River.

Yana Urqu is a mountain in the Cusco Region in Peru, about 4,644.8 metres (15,239 ft) high. It is situated in the Quispicanchi Province, at the border of the districts Ocongate and Quiquijana.
Quri is a mountain in the Cusco Region in Peru, about 4,200 metres (13,780 ft) high. It is situated in the Quispicanchi Province, Quiquijana District. The mountain lies at the confluence of the Willkanuta River and its right tributary Uchuymayu in Quiquijana.
The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (88.42%) learnt to speak in childhood, 11.25% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census). [3]
