Rosa'Elina' (AKA 'DICjana') is a light yellow hybrid tea rose bred by Patrick Dickson of Northern Ireland in 1983. [1] The variety was developed from the white floribunda 'Nana Mouskouri' (Dickson, 1975) and the apricot hybrid tea 'Lolita' (Kordes, 1972).
Dickson Nurseries is a family owned rose company in Newtownards, County Down, Northern Ireland. The nursery was established in 1836 by Alexander Dickson (1801—1880). His son George (1832-1914) founded the rose nursery, Alexander Dickson and Sons and his son Hugh (1831—1904) established a separate rose nursery in 1869 called Royal Nurseries. George's sons, Alexander II (1857-1949) and George II took over the company from their father in 1872. Alexander II began breeding roses in 1879. The firm's name changed to Dicksons of Hawlmark and later became Dickson Nurseries in 1969. [2]
Alexander Patrick (Patrick) Dickson (1926—2012), grandson of Alexander II, began working for Dickson Nurseries in 1957 and began hybridizing roses in 1958. [3] During his career, Dickson developed many successful rose cultivars, including RosaSea Pearl, RosaIrish Gold, Rosa 'Red Gold' (AARS) and Rosa 'Red Devil'. [4] Dickson created the new rose cultivar, 'Elina' from the white floribunda 'Nana Mouskouri' (Dickson, 1975) and the apricot hybrid tea 'Lolita' (Kordes, 1972). The rose was later used to hybridize one child plant, floribunda RosaWhisper. [5]
'Elina' is a medium-sized bushy shrub, 4 to 5 ft (121–152 cm) in height, with a 2 to 3 ft spread (60–91 cm). Its mildly fragrant flowers are high centered, have 17 to 35 petals and an average diameter of 15 cm (6"). Bloom colour is weather dependent and can reach from lemon to ivory. [6] The pointed, ovoid buds open to very large flowers with an elegant, opulent bloom form. They grow mostly solitary on long firm stems and appear quite late, but then almost continuously throughout the season. [7] The bushy rose shrub has dense, glossy foliage. [8] 'Elina' is only moderately winter hardy (USDA zone 6b), [9] a thrips favourite, [6] but excepting mildew in humid conditions very disease resistant. Barlage recommends the plantation in groups or hedges. [7]

Rosa 'English Miss' is a Floribunda rose bred by Roger Pawsey of Cants of Colchester, Essex in 1977. The cultivar was introduced into Great Britain in 1979. The plant is a compact, bushy shrub with light pink camellia-like flowers. It is disease resistant and blooms continuously from June to mid-October.
Rosa 'Sunsprite' is a rose variety developed by Reimer Kordes and introduced in 1973. The rose was derived from the cultivars 'Friedrich Wörlein' × 'Spanish Sun', and is one of the most successful floribunda roses. It was named 'Friesia' after the region Frisia (Friesland), the home of the breeder, and was one of the first roses to be given a code name.
Floribunda is a modern group of garden roses that was developed by crossing hybrid teas with polyantha roses, the latter being derived from crosses between Rosa chinensis and Rosa multiflora. The idea was to create roses that bloomed with the polyantha profusion, but with hybrid tea floral beauty and colour range.

Rosa 'Charles Austin' is an apricot shrub rose cultivar bred and introduced by David Austin in England in 1973. The rose was hybridised by crossing the English rose 'Chaucer' with the pink Hybrid Tea 'Aloha' and is named after the breeder's father. It was one of the early English roses.

Rosa 'Blueberry Hill',, is a floribunda rose cultivar, bred by Tom Carruth, and introduced into the United States by Weeks Rose Growers in 1997. The plant was created from hybrid tea, 'Crystalline' and floribunda, 'Playgirl'. The cultivar won a Portland Gold Medal in 2002.
Rosa 'Red Gold', is a bicolor, yellow and red-orange Floribunda rose cultivar. Bred by Patrick Dickson in Northern Ireland in 1967, and the plant was introduced into Australia in 1968 and the United States in 1971. 'Red Gold' is also known by the marketing names: 'Redgold', 'Rouge et Or', 'Dicor', and 'Alinka'. The cultivar was named an All-America Rose Selections winner in 1971.
