Rugby League Deutschland was the governing body for the sport of rugby league football in Germany. The Association was formed in 2007. [1] [2] It folded in March 2015, and was replaced by the Nationaler Rugby League Deutschland e.V. (NRLD). [3] The NRLD became an affiliate member of the RLEF in December 2017.

Rugby league is a full-contact sport played by two teams of thirteen players on a rectangular field measuring 68 m wide and 112–122 m long. One of the two codes of rugby football, it originated in Northern England in 1895 as a split from the Rugby Football Union over the issue of payments to players. Its rules progressively changed with the aim of producing a faster, more entertaining game for spectators.

It supports the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF). The RLEF "oversees and co-ordinates the development of the sport in all its member countries and those neighbouring organisations that choose to link to the RLEF". The RLEF operates several competitions, most notably the European Cup.

Rugby league is a full contact football code and spectator sport played in various countries around the world and governed by the Rugby League International Federation. As of 2010 there are currently 27 nations fielding domestic leagues that meet the World Cup eligibility requirements. Further to this there are over 30 others that are playing at an emerging level status at varying degrees of international competition and are in the process of developing the game in their nations. The global player pool is estimated to be in the millions.

The Federazione Italiana Rugby League is the governing body for the sport of rugby league football in Italy. The association was formed in 2008. They acquired full membership status of the RLEF in March 2017.

The Ukraine national rugby league team was established in 2007 to represent Ukraine at rugby league football. Ukraine is in the fourth tier developing nations along with Estonia and Latvia. The national side played their first international game as a nation playing against the Great Britain Students going down 36-18. Ukraine was originally scheduled to play in the 2008 European Bowl but withdrew at the last minute due to problems with the teams visas.

2009 Atlantic Cup

The 2009 Atlantic Cup, known as the Hotels of Jacksonville Atlantic Cup for sponsorship purposes, was the first Atlantic Cup rugby league football tournament. It was held on November 14, 2009 at Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. This inaugural contest was a single test between the United States and Jamaica. The event was deemed a success, and sponsors hoped the Atlantic Cup would become an annual event, with other developing rugby league nations such as South Africa and Japan competing. It was followed by the 2010 Atlantic Cup, which featured the United States, Jamaica, and Canada.

Lloyd White is a Welsh international rugby league footballer who plays for the Mackay Cutters in the Queensland Cup. He has previously played for Crusaders RL and spent time playing for the South Wales Scorpions. He is, by preference a stand-off, but can play as a scrum-half and fullback, and less regularly at loose forward.
