The Ukrainian Federation of Rugby League is the governing body for the sport of rugby league football in Ukraine. The Association was formed in 2008. [1]

Being dominated by Russia since the 18th century, sport on the bigger portion of Ukraine as the rest of popular culture in Ukraine has been overshadowed by Russian culture as its regional deviation. As part of Ukrainian culture, sport began its development in Austria-Hungary and was influenced by various European physical culture movements such as pan-Germanic Turners, pan-Slavic Sokol, and others. In the Russian Empire, the Ukrainian nation was never recognized and was criminally prosecuted, while the Little-Russian culture was allowed to existed only as folk culture. Only after dissolution of the Soviet Union, in 1992 the Ukrainian anthem first sounded at Olympic Games starting with the Olympic victory of Oleh Kucherenko and immediately followed by victories of Tetiana Hutsu and Oleksandra Tymoshenko.

The Austrian national rugby league team are the national rugby league team of Austria. They were created to continue the spread of the game of rugby league football throughout Central Europe. Austria have played matches against a number of other European countries and also competed in the Central Europe Development Tri-Nations in 2006 alongside Germany and Estonia.

Russian Rugby League Federation

Russian Rugby League Federation was the governing body for rugby league in Russia until 2010. It was founded in 1978 mainly as a governing body for Moscow based teams, and became the head body for all of Russia in 1986. The Russian Rugby League Federation became affiliated to the Rugby League International Federation in 1993. In 2003 the Russia became a full test nation in rugby league.

The 2014–15 European Championship B tournament was the eighth staging of the Rugby League European Shield tournament played in the respective European countries participating over 2014 and 2015.

The 2018–19 Rugby League European Championship C is the initial phase of European qualifying to the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. The series involves two pools of three teams in a round-robin tournament. These matches took place between 16 June and 15 September 2018.
