Sunamganj-2 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh by Joya Sengupta, elected as Independent politician in 2024.
The constituency encompasses Derai and Sullah upazilas. [2] [3]
The constituency was created in 1984 from the Sylhet-2 constituency when the former Sylhet District was split into four districts: Sunamganj, Sylhet, Moulvibazar, and Habiganj. [4]
Suranjit Sengupta died in February 2017. Joya Sengupta, his widow, was elected in a March 2017 by-election. [8]

Suranjit Sengupta was a Bangladesh Awami League politician. He resigned in 2012 as the first Railway Minister of Bangladesh. He was the member of parliament from Sunamganj-2 constituency in the Jatiya Sangsad and a member of the party's advisory council. He was the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on the Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry.
Jaya Sengupta is a Bangladesh Awami League politician, doctor, and Member of Parliament of Bangladesh. Her husband was Suranjit Sengupta, a senior leader of Bangladesh Awami League and former Minister of Bangladesh Railway.

Abul Hasnat Muhammad Abdul Hai was a Bangladeshi politician. He was elected a member of the Jatiya Sangsad from the seats of 227 Sunamganj-4 and 228-Sunamganj-5 (Chhatak-Dowarabazar). He was elected a member of parliament for the first time as an independent candidate from Sylhet-4 in the 1973 first parliamentary elections. In the second parliamentary election an independent candidate in 1979, he was elected a member of the parliament in the Sylhet-5 constituency. He was a member of the Jatiya Party's elected a member of the parliament from Sunamganj-5 seat in the last 1986 in the third parliamentary election.
