Tanjungpura University (Indonesian : Universitas Tanjungpura) or UNTAN is a public university in the city of Pontianak in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Hamzah Haz, former Indonesian vice president, once taught at the university. [1]
It was established as the private, government-accredited University of National Power (Universitas Daya Nasional) on 20 May 1959, with Law and Business Administration faculties, and became a public university 16 May 1963. On 20 May 1963, the name was changed to State University of Pontianak (Universitas Negeri Pontianak). On 14 September 1965 the name changed again, to Dwikora University (Universitas Dwikora) (Dwikora, short for Dwi Komando Rakyat, was a reference to the Indonesian 'konfrontasi' with Malaysia). [2] At this time, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences was opened.
On August 15, 1967, the final name change was effected, [3] to Tanjungpura University, a reference to the Tanjungpura Kingdom that once ruled the area.

Hamzah Haz was the ninth vice president of Indonesia from 2001 to 2004 under President Megawati Sukarnoputri. Prior to serving as vice president, Hamzah served as a cabinet minister and a member of the People's Representative Council (DPR). He also chaired the United Development Party (PPP) from 1998 to 2007, and was the party's presidential candidate in the 2004 Indonesian presidential election.
AirlanggaUniversity is the second-oldest university in Indonesia and also a public university located in Surabaya, East Java. Despite being officially established by Indonesian Government Regulation in 1954, Universitas Airlangga was first founded in 1948 as a distant branch of the University of Indonesia, with roots dating back to 1913. It started with a medical school and a school of dentistry. Now Universitas Airlangga hosts 16 faculties with more than 35,000 students and 1,570 faculty members. Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, shortened as UAJY, is a university located in Depok, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (also known as "Atma Jaya University" or "Atma Jaya"; Indonesian: Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya or abbreviated as Unika Atma Jaya) is an institute of higher learning in Jakarta, Indonesia, which was founded by the Atma Jaya Foundation on 1 June 1960. Atma Jaya has three campuses in Jakarta Metropolitan Area, in which the main campus is located in Semanggi, South Jakarta. The second campus, the center for health development, is located in Pluit, North Jakarta, next to its teaching hospital, Atma Jaya Hospital. Yogyakarta State University is a public state university established in Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 1964. The university's main campus is located in Sleman Regency. UNY was previously part of a faculty at Gadjah Mada University which eventually formed a separate institution called the Yogyakarta Teacher Training and Education Institute. UNY has also been considered one of the best teacher educational institutions in Indonesia, along with the Indonesian University of Education and the State University of Malang.
Hasanuddin University which is abbreviated as Unhas, is one of the largest autonomous universities in Indonesia. It is located in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Unhas was established on September 10, 1956, and named after Sultan Hasanuddin, a former King of the Gowa Kingdom.

Ketapang or Tau-pang in Teochew is the administrative capital of Ketapang Regency, one of the regencies of West Kalimantan province on the island of Borneo in Indonesia.
