Tata Oil Mills Company also known as TOMCO, was a public limited company and part of Tata Group. It was incorporated on 10 December 1917 with head office at Bombay by Dorabji Tata. It was into manufacture and sale soaps, detergents, cooking oils, glycerine, cattle and poultry feeds, de-oiled meals, oil cakes and fish products. [1] [2] [3] The manufacturing units were spread over India in Maharahstra, West Bengal, Kerala, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. [1] In 1952, Lakme was started as a 100% subsidiary of Tata Oil Mills by JRD Tata. [4] The company owned famous bathing soap brands like Hamam, Okay, Moti to name a few, they also had a detergent brand named as Magic. [5] During early 1990s Tata's wanted to move out of businesses that did not meet their long term strategy and TOMCO was sold to their competitors Hindustan Lever Limited and it was amalgamated into HLL on 28 December 1994 with retrospective effect from 1 April 1993. Mysore Sandal Soap is a brand of soap manufactured by the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), a company owned by the government of Karnataka in India. This soap has been manufactured since 1916, when Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, the king of Mysore, set up the Government Soap Factory in Bangalore. The main motivation for setting up the factory was the excessive sandalwood reserves that the Mysore Kingdom had, which could not be exported to Europe because of the First World War. In 1980, KSDL was incorporated as a company by merging the Government Soap Factory with the sandalwood oil factories at Shimoga and Mysore. Mysore Sandal Soap is the only soap in the world made from 100% pure sandalwood oil. KSDL owns a proprietary geographical indication tag on the soap, which gives it intellectual property rights to use the brand name, to ensure quality, and to prevent piracy and unauthorised use by other manufacturers. In 2006, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Indian cricketer was selected as the first brand ambassador of the Mysore Sandal Soap.

Tata Textile Mills was a textile mills business of Tata Group, with its head office in Bombay. It consisted of four textile mills; namely, Central India Mills also popularly known as Empress Mills in Nagpur, the Svadeshi Mills in Bombay, the Tata Mills in Bombay, and the Advance Mills in Ahmedabad. For several decades the four mills produced and sold fabrics under the much-reputed brand name of Tata Textiles.

Unilever Nigeria Plc is a publicly listed company with trading and manufacturing interest in the consumer goods market. In 2014, it was listed among the top 20 most valuable companies quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Unilever Nigeria PLC is a subsidiary of Unilever Overseas Holding B.V.
