Players control customizable Sims as they pursue career and relationship goals. Players can also use their Sims' income to renovate their living space, purchase home furnishings, or clothing for their household. Players can also choose to pursue a social and successful life.

The Sims: Hot Date is the third expansion pack released for the strategic life-simulation computer game The Sims developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. It was released on November 14, 2001 with overall positive reviews thanks to the addition of a downtown area outside the neighborhood, which became the set up for upcoming expansion packs in which new areas were added; it also served as the inspiration for later games including The Sims 2: Nightlife and The Sims 3: Late Night.

It is an expansion that focuses mainly on traveling, similar to The Sims: Vacation expansion pack for the original game. The Geibeltbad Pirna is a public bath and water sport facility in Pirna near Dresden, Saxony in Germany. Finished under the Nazis on June 20, 1937, it is one of the largest baths in the world. The 20,000 square metre site was renovated and upgraded in 2001-02 to include an indoor swimming pool, wellness centre and other facilities. From 1937 to 1990 Geibeltbad was a venue for the German swimming championships as well as a training site. In 2006, the bath welcomed 233,588 visitors.

A Mac-compatible version of the game was released on February 17, 2015. The Sims 4 is the first PC game to top all-format charts in two years. The game has received mixed reviews since its release, with the majority of criticism directed towards its lack of content.
The Sims 3: Island Paradise is the tenth expansion pack for The Sims 3 series from Electronic Arts. It is available on both Windows and OS X. The release dates vary from continent to continent. It was released in the US on June 25, 2013, and on June 28, 2013 in Europe.
The Sims 4: Outdoor Retreat is a game pack in The Sims 4 released on January 13, 2015. It includes a new destination, many new objects, new outfits and new interactions. It is only available for digital download.
The Sims 4: Get Together is the second expansion pack in The Sims 4. It includes a new old-European-themed world inspired by Germany and Norway called Windenburg where sims can go to night clubs, new spots and many new locations as well as new hangouts, clubs, more activities, cafés, and new interactions. The theme is similar to The Sims: Hot Date, The Sims 2: Nightlife, The Sims 2: FreeTime, and The Sims 3: Late Night.
The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs is an expansion pack for The Sims 4, that was released on November 10, 2017. On July 31, 2018, The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs was released for the Xbox One and PS4. It features a new world called Brindleton Bay and adds cats and dogs into the game. It also allows players to create their own veterinary practice and to pursue a veterinary career. It takes elements from The Sims Unleashed, The Sims 2: Pets and The Sims 3: Pets.
