The fifth season of The Voice began on 1 May 2016.^[1] Jessie J, Delta Goodrem and The Madden Brothers returned as coaches with Ronan Keating replacing Ricky Martin.^[2] Sonia Kruger became solo host of the season after Darren McMullen left the series. Alfie Arcuri from Team Delta won the competition against Adam Ladell, also from Team Delta, who finished as runner-up, while Tash Lockhart and Ellen Reed finished in third and fourth place, respectively.^[3]

The Voice is an Australian singing competition television series broadcast on Nine, based on the original The Voice of Holland. The show is hosted by Sonia Kruger, who debuted as host during the fifth season, following the departure of Darren McMullen.

Jessica Ellen Cornish, known professionally as Jessie J, is an English singer and songwriter. Born and raised in London, she began her career on stage, aged 11, with a role in the West End musical Whistle Down the Wind. She studied at the BRIT School before signing with Gut Records and striking a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

Delta Lea Goodrem is an Australian singer, songwriter, and actress. Born and raised in Sydney, New South Wales, she enrolled in dancing, acting, singing and piano classes at a young age. She began her career as a child actress, starring in various television shows. She rose to prominence in 2002 playing a shy school girl called Nina Tucker in the Australian soap opera Neighbours.

Ronan Patrick John Keating is an Irish recording artist, singer/songwriter, musician, and philanthropist. He debuted in 1994 alongside Keith Duffy, Michael Graham, Shane Lynch, and Stephen Gately, as the co-lead singer of Irish group Boyzone. His solo career started in 1999 and has recorded nine albums. He gained worldwide attention when his single "When You Say Nothing at All" was featured in the film Notting Hill and peaked at number one in several countries. As a solo artist, he has sold over 20 million records worldwide alongside the 25 million records with Boyzone, and in Australia, he is best known as a judge on "All together now" & The X Factor from 2010 until 2014 and a coach on The Voice in 2016. Keating is active in charity work and has been a charity campaigner for the Marie Keating Foundation, which raises awareness for breast cancer and is named after his mother who died from the disease in 1998.

The Madden Brothers are an American pop rock duo made up of twin brothers Joel Madden and Benji Madden, both of whom are also founding members of the rock band Good Charlotte.

"Hello" is a song by British singer-songwriter Adele, released on 23 October 2015 by XL Recordings as the lead single from her third studio album, 25 (2015). Adele co-wrote the song with her producer, Greg Kurstin. "Hello" is a piano ballad with soul influences, and lyrics that discuss themes of nostalgia and regret. Upon release, the song was acclaimed by music critics, who compared it favourably to Adele's previous work and praised the song's lyrics and Adele's vocals. It was recorded in London's Metropolis Studios.

Casey Rose originally was a duo with Barnaby, however, the coaches told her that she is better off alone. Each coach then saved one of their artists, guaranteeing them a performance in the second live show. The remaining artists faced the public vote all week. Episode 15 (19 June)

The second episode of the Live shows was first broadcast on 19 June 2016. Due to a pre-commitment The Madden Brothers had with their band Good Charlotte, Australian sister band The Veronicas filled in as judges in their place for this episode and also performed their new single "In My Blood".^[4]

Good Charlotte American alternative rock band

Good Charlotte is an American rock band from Waldorf, Maryland, that formed in 1996. Since 1998, the band's constant members have been vocalist Joel Madden, guitarist and vocalist Benji Madden, bassist Paul Thomas, guitarist and keyboardist Billy Martin, while drummer Dean Butterworth has been a member of the band since 2005. After a four-year-long hiatus, the band announced its comeback on November 3, 2015. The band has released seven studio albums: Good Charlotte (2000), The Young and the Hopeless (2002), The Chronicles of Life and Death (2004), Good Morning Revival (2007), Cardiology (2010),Youth Authority (2016), and Generation Rx (2018). as well as two compilations: Greatest Remixes (2008) and Greatest Hits (2010).

The Veronicas are an Australian pop duo from Brisbane. The group was formed in 2004 by identical twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso.

"In My Blood" is a song by Australian pop duo The Veronicas for their upcoming fourth studio album. It was co-written by The Veronicas twins, Lisa Origliasso and Jessica Origliasso, along with Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci and produced by the latter two under the collective name DNA. The track is the lead single from the yet-to-be-titled album and was released on 10 June 2016.

At the beginning of the show, the four artists with the most votes (one per team) were fast tracked to the second half of the show, the four artists with the least votes (one per team) performed to stay in the competition. Only two made it through on an instant app vote mid-show to join the top four artists, giving us the top six. The top six performed their Semi-Final song, followed by another instant app vote, and from there the top four were announced and advanced to The Grand Finale. Coach Delta Goodrem performed her new single "Enough" featuring Gizzle.

"Enough" is a song by Australian singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem, released as the third single alongside the pre-order of her fifth studio album Wings of the Wild. It features American rapper Gizzle and peaked at number 27 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

With the elimination of Andrew Loadsman, The Maddens had no more contestants left on their team, making this the second season in the Australian version of the franchise where a coach didn't have a contestant in the grand finale.

Grand Finale

The Grand Finale was first broadcast on 10 July 2016. The Madden Brothers' band Good Charlotte performed their single "Life Can't Get Much Better" and girl band Fifth Harmony performed their single "All in My Head (Flex)".^[5]

With Alfie Arcuri and Adam Ladell being Winner and Runner-up, respectively, Delta Goodrem became the first coach in the Australian version of the franchise to have two of her artists as Top 2.
