Turton is a town in Spink County, South Dakota, United States. The population was 55 at the 2020 census. [6] The town was served by Turton High School from 1915 to 1956; students attended Doland High School thereafter.
Turton was platted in 1886. [7] It was named after Turton, England, the native home of an early settler. [7] An early variant name was St. Paul. [8] A post office has been in operation in Turton since 1887. [9]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.37 square miles (0.96 km2), all land. [10]
Turton High School existed from 1915 to 1956, when it was closed due to a shortage of funds, teachers and too few students to qualify for state aid.

The average household size was 1.85 and the average family size was 2.62.
The median age in the town was 53.5 years. 10.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.4% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 10.5% were from 25 to 44; 45.9% were from 45 to 64; and 27.1% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the town was 56.3% male and 43.8% female.
