WWE Invasion (stylized as InVasion), also known as NXT Invasion is a professional wrestling event produced by WWE, formerly the World Wrestling Federation, an American-based promotion. broadcast live and available only through pay-per-view (PPV) and WWE's livestreaming platforms. The event was first held in 2001 replacing Fully Loaded in the July pay-per-view calendar during the The Invasion storyline featuring the wrestlers from the former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW); but following the conclusion of the storyline, the event's name was discontinued in 2002 when Vengeance took over the slot.

The name was revived in 2025 as a television special for the wrestlers in the NXT brand division and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).

History

The WWF had planned to hold a fourth Fully Loaded pay-per-view (PPV) in 2001, but the PPV event was then renamed Invasion as part of the ongoing The Invasion storyline between the WWF, and The Alliance, consisting of former World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) talent. The event took place on July 22, 2001, at the Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. [1] After the storyline concluded at Survivor Series in November, [2] this was the only Invasion PPV held, and instead of reinstating Fully Loaded in July 2002, the WWF, which was renamed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in May 2002, moved Vengeance to the July slot; [3] Vengeance had temporarily replaced Armageddon in December 2001 due to the September 11 attacks. [4]

On the September 23, 2025, episode of WWE NXT , the weekly show focused on WWE's developmental brand, wrestlers from the promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), which had been in a partnership with WWE since January, interrupted a Winner Takes All match between Oba Femi and Trick Williams for both the NXT Championship and TNA World Championship, beginning with Mike Santana, who is slated to face Williams for the TNA World Championship at Bound for Glory. [5] On September 27, during the NXT No Mercy event, NXT General Manager Ava announced NXT Invasion, a special episode of NXT reviving the Invasion name after more than 24 years, for October 7. The episode will feature two Survivor Series matches pitting NXT and TNA wrestlers against each other (since 2022 the WarGames match was incorporated into the long-standing Survivor Series event), a redo of the Winner Takes All match this time between Williams and Ricky Saints, and a separate Winner Takes All match between the Hardy Brothers and DarkState (Osiris Griffin & Dion Lennox) for the TNA and NXT Tag Team Championships; Jeff Hardy is slated to be the only wrestler who competed on the WWF Invasion card to also wrestle on NXT Invasion.
