The Marlboro Asian Badminton Championships 1987 took place in the month of December in Semarang, Indonesia. [1] Only men's team competition were conducted. At the end of day, China won the championships beating Indonesia in the final while South Korea won the bronze medal playoff defeating Malaysian team. [2] [3]
The tournament was held at the Goa Stadium in Semarang, Indonesia.
The draw was revealed on 23 November 1989. [4] A total of 16 countries entered the tournament. Eight countries will compete in the preliminary round which will feature two groups, Group 1 and Group 2. The winner and runner-up of their group will advance to the second round which features four groups, Group A, Group B, Group C and Group D. Group winners in the second round will advance to the knockout stage.

Bok won the S.League's Coach of the Year award in 2006, 2007 and 2009.

Tan Wee Kiong is a Malaysian badminton player in the doubles event. He is well-known for his former partnership with Goh V Shem, which began at the 2014 Thomas Cup. Together, Tan and Goh won the gold medal in the men's doubles and the mixed team event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. They also won bronze at the 2014 Asian Games. In their Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics, they won the silver medal, becoming the first Malaysian pair to achieve such a feat since 1996. In November 2016, they reached a career-high ranking of world number 1, making them the fourth ever Malaysian men's doubles pair to do so, after Cheah Soon Kit and Yap Kim Hock, Chan Chong Ming and Chew Choon Eng, and Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong.

Loh Kean Yew is a Singaporean badminton player. He is the former men's singles world champion, winning the title at the 2021 BWF World Championships, becoming the first Singaporean to achieve this feat.
