Eduardo Gory Guerrero Llanes was an American professional wrestler. He was best known for his tenures in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). A prominent member of the Guerrero wrestling family, being the son of first-generation wrestler Gory Guerrero, he was widely considered to be one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.
Curtis Michael Hennig, better known by the ring name Mr. Perfect, was an American professional wrestler. Considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time by many peers, critics, and fans, he performed under his real name for promotions including the American Wrestling Association (AWA), the World Wrestling Federation, World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and NWA Total Nonstop Action. Hennig was the son of wrestler Larry "The Axe" Hennig and the father of wrestler Curtis Axel.

Clash of the Champions is an American series of professional wrestling television specials that were produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP) in conjunction with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). The specials were supercards comprising pay-per-view caliber matches, similar to the World Wrestling Federation's Saturday Night's Main Event series. The Clash of the Champions shows were famous for typically not airing commercials during matches even though many of these matches lasted 20 minutes or more.

Starting with the 1997 edition the event was broadcast on pay-per-view (PPV). The event was considered to be ECW's flagship supercard. December to Dismember was a professional wrestling event. It was first held by the former Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion in 1995 as a non-televised supercard. After World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) acquired the assets of the former promotion in 2003, December to Dismember was revived as a pay-per-view (PPV) event in 2006 and was promoted by WWE for its new ECW brand division. An event was planned for 2007, but was canceled as WWE discontinued brand-exclusive PPVs following WrestleMania 23 in April 2007, resulting in the reduction of yearly PPVs produced.
