The 2008 BWF Super Series was the second season of the BWF Super Series. The season spanned between the continental of Asia and Europe and was starting with Malaysia Open from January 15 and ended with Hong Kong Open on November 30, 2008. The top eight ranked players competed in the Masters Finals in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia from December 18 to December 21, 2008. [1]

It was expected to end on December 23, 2007 with Super Series Finals; this event was postponed and later cancelled due to an uncertain circumstance.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Greysia Polii</span> Indonesian badminton player

Greysia Polii is an Indonesian former badminton player specializing in doubles. She won gold medals in the women's doubles at the 2014 Asian Games, at the 2019 SEA Games and at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She also won three bronze medals at the World Championships in 2015, 2018, and 2019. Polii is a member of BWF Athletes' Commission to represent the needs and views of athletes to the BWF council and committees from 2013 to 2017 and 2021 to 2025.

The BWF Super Series Finals was an annual badminton tournament held at the end of the year where the players with the most points from that calendar year's twelve events of the BWF Super Series competed for total prize money of at least US$ 1,000,000. It was replaced by BWF World Tour Finals in 2018.

The 2009 BWF Super Series was the third season of the BWF Super Series. Like the previous season, the twelve tournaments were all hosted by nations in Asia and Europe with the Malaysia Open as the opening tournament and China Open as the final tournament in the season.

The 2010 BWF Super Series was the fourth season of the BWF Super Series. Like the previous season, the twelve tournaments were all hosted by nations in Asia and Europe with the Korea Open as the opening tournament and the Hong Kong Open as the final tournament in the season.

The 2011 BWF Super Series was the fifth season of the BWF Super Series. This season marked the beginning of a three-year cycle of the event, the second after the first four-year one from 2007 to 2010. A few changes were announced by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), as the India Open was promoted up one stage from the Grand Prix Gold level, while the Swiss Open was dropped from the Super Series. Five tournaments were promoted to become slightly higher-level Super Series Premier events with more prize money awarded than in the Super Series tournaments.

Chan Peng Soon is a Malaysian badminton player specialised in the mixed doubles event. He is best known for his partnership with Goh Liu Ying where they have been consistently ranked among the top 10 mixed doubles pair in the world. Tai Tzu-ying is a Taiwanese badminton player. At the age of 22, she became world No. 1 in the women's singles in December 2016, and she is the women's singles player who has held that title for the longest in BWF history, with 214 weeks. Tai was the women's singles silver medalist in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the gold medalist in 2017 Summer Universiade and at the 2018 Asian Games. She has won the year-end tournament BWF Superseries/World Tour Finals four times, and the All England Open thrice as of 2020. She has also won Asian Championships titles thrice in 2017, 2018 and 2023.

The 2012 BWF Super Series was the sixth season of the BWF Super Series. The season started with a Super Series Premier event in Korea and ended in Hong Kong. The season-ending Masters Finals were held in Shenzhen, China from December 12–16, 2012.

Huang Yaqiong is a Chinese badminton player who specializes in doubles. She won the prestigious All England Open in 2017 partnered with Lu Kai, and in 2019 with Zheng Siwei. Together with Lu, she emerged as the champion at the 2017 Asian Championships. With her current partner Zheng, she won the gold medal at the 2018 and 2022 Asian Games, and claimed the BWF World Championships titles in 2018, 2019, and 2022. Huang was made the Female Player of the Year by the BWF in 2018 and 2019.

The 2017 BWF Super Series, officially known as 2017 Metlife BWF Super Series for sponsorship reasons, was the eleventh season of the BWF Super Series of badminton. It was replaced by the BWF World Tour from the 2018 season.

The BWF World Tour is a Grade 2 badminton tournament series, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). It is a competition open to the top world ranked players in singles and doubles. The competition was announced on 19 March 2017 and came into effect starting from 2018, replacing the BWF Super Series, which was held from 2007 to 2017.
