The 2009 Toronto FC season was the third season in Toronto FC's existence. The club narrowly missed their first appearance for the MLS playoffs, losing the last game of the season when a win would have meant qualification.

The 2008 MLS season was the second season in Toronto FC's existence. The club's season began on March 29, 2008, in an away game against Columbus Crew, which resulted in a 2–0 loss. The club's first goal of the season was scored by Maurice Edu on April 5, 2008, in a 4–1 loss against D.C. United.

The 2009 Kansas City Wizards season was the club's 14th in MLS and the second season played at their temporary home Community America Ballpark. It started on March 21, 2009 with a 3-2 home loss to Toronto FC and ended on October 22, with a 2-2 draw against D.C. United, also at home.

The 2009 Chicago Fire season was the club's 11th year of existence, as well as their 12th season in Major League Soccer and 12th consecutive year in the top-flight of American soccer. The 2009 Real Salt Lake season was the fifth season of the team's existence. After clinching the eighth and final spot in the 2009 MLS Cup Playoffs, Real Salt Lake would go on to defeat the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2009 MLS Cup. The team was the first team in MLS history to win the MLS Cup after finishing the regular season with a losing record (11–12–7).

The 2010 MLS season was the fourth season in Toronto FC's existence. The club was looking to make the playoffs for the first time in their history and ultimately fell short. TFC started the season with Preki as the new head coach however, on September 14, 2010, he along with Director of Soccer Mo Johnston were relieved of their duties; and Nick Dasovic took over as head coach on an interim basis.

The 2010 San Jose Earthquakes season was the club's thirteenth season of existence. The Earthquakes finished 8th overall in MLS and finished in the Eastern Conference finals of the MLS Cup playoffs before losing to the Colorado Rapids. It was the first season the club made the playoffs since 2005.

The 2011 MLS season was the fifth season in Toronto FC's existence. The club once again failed to make the playoffs, however, they won the Canadian Championship and strong performances near the end of the season helped them in qualifying to the semifinal phase of the 2011–12 CONCACAF Champions League.

The 2011 Colorado Rapids season was the club's seventeenth year of existence, as well as its sixteenth season in Major League Soccer, and its sixteenth consecutive season in the top-flight of American soccer.

The 2011 San Jose Earthquakes season was the club's 14th year of existence, as well as its 14th season in Major League Soccer and its fourth consecutive season in the top-flight of American soccer. This is the 29th season of a club bearing the "Earthquakes" name.

The 2012 Toronto FC season was the sixth season in Toronto FC's existence. The club missed the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season, having never made a post-season appearance. Their season began on March 7 with the quarterfinal of the Champions League against the Los Angeles Galaxy. They ultimately reached the semi-finals of the tournament where they lost to Mexican side Santos Laguna.

The 2012 Philadelphia Union season was the third season of the team's existence, competing in Major League Soccer, the top flight of American soccer. The team was initially managed by former MLS player Peter Nowak, in his third season with the club. In June, Nowak resigned and assistant coach John Hackworth was promoted to manager on an interim basis. Hackworth was officially made permanent head coach in August, making him the second head coach in the club's history.

The 2012 San Jose Earthquakes season was the club's 15th year of existence, as well as its 15th season in Major League Soccer and its fifth consecutive season in the top-flight of American soccer. Including all previous franchises, this is the 30th year with a soccer club in the San Jose area sporting the name "Earthquakes".

The 2013 Toronto FC season was Toronto FC's seventh season in Major League Soccer, the top tier of soccer in the United States and Canada. Kevin Payne became the club's first president during the off-season. He also became the club's general manager. The season opened on March 2.

The 2015 Toronto FC season was the ninth season in club history. On October 14, the team qualified for the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. The club began the season with a seven match road trip due to ongoing renovations at BMO Field. Their first home game was played May 10 against the Houston Dynamo, more than two months into the season.

The 2007 New England Revolution season was the twelfth season of the team's existence, and the third straight season to end in the MLS Cup Final. It began on April 7 with a 1–0 road loss against the Chicago Fire and ended on November 19 with a 2–1 loss to the Houston Dynamo in the finals of the MLS Cup, a repeat of the previous year's MLS Cup Final. It was the first season where the Revs won any domestic competition, as they were the 2007 US Open Cup champions.

The 2020 Toronto FC season was the 14th season in the history of Toronto FC. The club entered the season as defending MLS Eastern Conference champions. They were scheduled to compete for the first time in the Leagues Cup, however it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They participated in the MLS is Back Tournament, which was the beginning of the resumed season following the postponement of regular season matches due to the pandemic.
