The 2018 FINA Diving World Cup took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 19 to 24 February 2018. [2] [3] [4] It was the 20th edition of the Diving World Cup, and the first time being hosted by Brazil. The venue was the Maria Lenk Aquatic Centre. [1] [5] [6]

Contents

The meet served as a test event for the 2016 Olympic Games. [7] [8] The Rio Olympic Games Organising Committee provided mosquito repellent and performed daily cleaning of the venue in response to concerns over the 2015–2016 Zika virus epidemic. [9]

Dana Whitney Vollmer is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic gold medalist, and former world record-holder. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, she won a gold medal as a member of the winning United States team in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay that set the world record in the event. Gabriel Mangabeira Brazilian swimmer

Gabriel Semain Vasconcellos Mangabeira is a Brazilian competition swimmer who qualified for the men's 100-metre butterfly at both the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2008 Summer Olympics. Mangabeira also won a silver medal in the 100-metre butterfly at the 2007 Pan American Games.

Kristian Ipsen is an American diver, who has been diving competitively since 1998. Diving alongside Troy Dumais, they took the silver medal in the synchronized 3 meter springboard at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships and the bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Michael Hixon is an American diver. He won the silver medal with Sam Dorman in the synchronized 3 meter springboard at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He also won bronze at the 2015 World Championships in the 1 meter springboard.

Conor Dwyer American swimmer

Conor James Dwyer is an American competition swimmer and Olympic gold medalist. He competes in freestyle and medley events, and won a gold medal as a member of the winning U.S. 4×200-meter freestyle relay team at the 2012 Summer Olympics. In total, he has won seventeen medals in major international competitions: nine gold, six silver, and two bronze spanning the Summer Olympics, the FINA World Championships, the Pan Pacific Championships, and the Pan American Games. Dwyer placed second at the 2016 US Olympic Swimming Trials in the 400m freestyle.

Allan do Carmo Brazilian swimmer

Allan Lopes Mamédio do Carmo is a Brazilian swimmer, who specialized in open water marathon. He is considered one of the fastest professional open water swimmers in the world, finishing near the top of FINA World Cup races for the 10 km marathon. He also won a bronze medal for his category at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Olivia Smoliga American swimmer

Olivia Smoliga is an American competition swimmer who specializes in backstroke and freestyle events. She currently represents the Cali Condors which is part of the International Swimming League. Olivia is the current American record holder in the 50-meter backstroke. At the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, she won a gold medal for swimming in the preliminary heat of the 4x100-meter medley relay.

Simone Manuel American swimmer

Simone Ashley Manuel is an American competition swimmer specializing in sprint freestyle. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, she won two gold and two silver medals: gold in the 100-meter freestyle and the 4x100-meter medley, and silver in the 50-meter freestyle and the 4×100-meter freestyle relay. In winning the 100-meter freestyle, a tie with Penny Oleksiak of Canada, Manuel became the first African-American woman to win an individual Olympic gold in swimming and set an Olympic record and an American record.

Caeleb Dressel American freestyle and butterfly swimmer

Caeleb Remel Dressel is an American freestyle and butterfly swimmer who specializes in the sprint events. He currently represents the Cali Condors which is part of the International Swimming League. He won seven gold medals at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest and a record eight medals, including six gold, at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju. Dressel is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and currently holds the world record in the 100 meter butterfly.

Maddison Keeney is an Australian female diver. She won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, gold medals at the 2017 and 2019 World Aquatics Championships, and silver medals at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Kelsi Dahlia American swimmer

Kelsi Worrell Dahlia is an American competition swimmer who specializes in butterfly and freestyle events. She qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 100-meter butterfly and won a gold medal in the 4 x 100-meter medley relay for swimming in the heats.

Emma Kay Robinson is a New Zealand swimmer who competed for her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She competed in the women's 800 metre freestyle but did not qualify for the final.

Lilly King American swimmer

Lilly King is an American swimmer who specializes in breaststroke. She currently represents the Cali Condors which is part of the International Swimming League. At the 2016 Summer Olympics she won the gold medal in the 100 meter breaststroke competition and also won a gold medal in the women's 4 × 100 m medley relay, in which she swam the breaststroke leg. She is the current world record holder in 100-metre and 50-metre breaststroke.
