The 2016 Supercars Dunlop Series was an Australian motor racing competition for Supercars, staged as a support series to the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. It was the seventeenth annual Supercars Development Series and the fifth to be contested under the "Dunlop Series" name. The season was also the first in which Holden VF Commodores and Ford FG X Falcons built to 'Car of the Future' specifications are eligible for the series, racing alongside previous generation VE Commodore and FG Falcon models.
The series was won by Garry Jacobson driving for Prodrive Racing Australia in a Ford FG X Falcon.

Tickford Racing is an Australian motor racing team which competes in the Supercars Championship. The team currently campaigns three Ford Mustangs, with their current drivers being Jack Le Brocq, Cameron Waters and James Courtney. Tickford Racing also competes in the Super2 Series with Zak Best.
Britek Motorsport was an Australian Supercars motor racing team owned by Bathurst 1000 winning driver Jason Bright. Established in 2005, the team originally ran as an independent team, however since 2010, its only remaining asset has been one Racing Entitlement Contract, which was most recently used to enter a fourth Ford FG X Falcon for Prodrive Racing Australia in 2017, officially under the Britek name, then leased out for a further two seasons. This was sold ahead of the 2020 season.
Rod Nash Racing is a Supercars Championship racing entity, owned by Rod Nash. Nash co-owns Tickford Racing and since 2018, Rod Nash Racing has run under the Tickford name.
Tekno Autosports was an Australian motor racing team, established in the 1990s initially for the motor racing activities of Stephen Webb, and later his son Jonathon Webb. The team competes in the Supercars Championship using two Holden ZB Commodores built by Triple Eight Race Engineering. Fabian Coulthard and Garry Jacobson are the team's current drivers. In 2022, the Supercars team was sold to Peter Xiberras and rebranded PremiAir Racing.
Chaz Mostert is an Australian professional racing driver competing in the Repco Supercars Championship. He currently drives the No. 25 Holden ZB Commodore for Walkinshaw Andretti United. Mostert was the winner of the 2021 Bathurst 1000 with Lee Holdsworth and has also previously won the 2014 Bathurst 1000 with Paul Morris and the 2010 Australian Formula Ford Championship.
The 2013 Dunlop Series was an Australian motor racing competition for V8 Supercars. It was the fourteenth running of a V8 Supercar Development Series, with all rounds held in support of 2013 International V8 Supercars Championship events.
Cameron Waters is an Australian motor racing driver who competes in the Repco Supercars Championship. He currently drives the No. 6 Ford Mustang GT for Tickford Racing. He is the cousin of Australian Superbike champion Josh Waters and currently holds the record for the youngest driver to compete in the Bathurst 1000, after winning the Shannons Supercar Showdown reality TV show in 2011. Cameron Waters won the 2015 V8 Supercar Dunlop Series with Prodrive Racing Australia in a Ford FG Falcon.
Matt Stone Racing is an Australian racing team competing in the Supercars Championship with two Holden ZB Commodores. Jake Kostecki drives the No. 34 car, while Zane Goddard drives the No. 35 car. They are also competing in the second-tier Dunlop Super2 Series with Aaron Seton

The Bathurst 250 was an annual motor racing event, held for the Super2 Series at the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. The race supported the Bathurst 1000 which the Supercars Championship has run since 1963. The event, which was in later years part of the championship season, was a single-race event, held over an endurance distance of 250 kilometres, and allowing for optional driver changes - a first for the series.
