The 2021 Rally Finland (also known as the Secto Rally Finland 2021) was a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over three days between 1 and 3 October 2021. [2] It marked the seventieth running of the Rally Finland. The event was the tenth round of the 2021 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3. The 2021 event was based in Jyväskylä in Central Finland and was contested over nineteen special stages totalling 287.11 km (178.40 mi) in competitive distance. [1]
Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja were the defending rally winners. The team they drove for in 2019, Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, were the defending manufacturers' winners. [3] Kalle Rovanperä and Jonne Halttunen were the defending winners in the WRC-2 category, [4] [lower-alpha 1] but they did not defend their titles, as they were promoted to the top class by Toyota. [5] In the WRC-3 category, Tom Kristensson and Henrik Appelskog were the reigning rally winners, [4] [lower-alpha 2] but they did not defend their titles neither, as Kristensson was promoted to the WRC-2 class by M-Sport Ford World Rally Team. [6]
Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin won the rally for the first time and their second of their season. Their team, Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, successfully defended their titles. [7] In the World Rally Championship-2 category, Teemu Suninen and Mikko Markkula won the event. [8] The local crew of Emil Lindholm and Reeta Hämäläinen took their maiden victory in the World Rally Championship-3 category. [9]
Reigning World Champions Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia entered the round with a forty-four-point lead over Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin. Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe were third, a further six points behind. In the World Rally Championship for Manufacturers, Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT held a massive fifty-seven-point lead over defending manufacturers' champions Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT, followed by M-Sport Ford WRT.
In the World Rally Championship-2 standings, Andreas Mikkelsen led Marco Bulacia Wilkinson by twenty-two points in the drivers' championship, with Mads Østberg in third. In the co-drivers' championship Marcelo Der Ohannesian held a six-point lead over Ola Fløene, with Torstein Eriksen in third.
In the World Rally Championship-3 standings, Yohan Rossel led Kajetan Kajetanowicz by fifteen points in the drivers' championship, with Nicolas Ciamin in third. In the co-drivers' championship Maciek Szczepaniak held a thirteen-point lead over Alexandre Coria, with Yannick Roche in third.
The following crews entered the rally. The event was open to crews competing in the World Rally Championship, its support categories, the World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3, and privateer entries that were not registered to score points in any championship. Nine entries for the World Rally Championship are received, as were eight in the World Rally Championship-2 and fourteen in the World Rally Championship-3.

The 2019 FIA World Rally Championship was the forty-seventh season of the World Rally Championship, a rallying championship recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as the highest class of international rallying. Teams and crews competed in fourteen events for the World Rally Championships for Drivers, Co-drivers and Manufacturers. Crews were free to compete in cars complying with World Rally Car and Group R regulations; however, only Manufacturers competing with World Rally Cars homologated under regulations introduced in 2017 were eligible to score points in the Manufacturers' championship. The series was once again supported by the World Rally Championship-2 category at every round, which was split into 2 classifications: the World Rally Championship-2 Pro for manufacturer entries and the World Rally Championship-2 for private entries, and by the Junior World Rally Championship at selected events. The World Rally Championship-3 was discontinued in 2018.
The 2019 Rally Finland was a motor racing event for rally cars held over four days between 1 and 4 August 2019. It marked the sixty-ninth running of Rally Finland and was the ninth round of the 2019 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and the newly-created WRC-2 Pro class. It was also the fourth round of the Junior World Rally Championship. The 2019 event was based in Jyväskylä in Keski-Suomi, and was contested over twenty-three special stages with a total a competitive distance of 307.58 km (191.12 mi).
The 2019 Rallye Deutschland was a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over four days between 22 and 25 August 2019. It marked the thirty-seventh running of Rallye Deutschland and was the tenth round of the 2019 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and the newly-created WRC-2 Pro class. The 2019 event was based at the Bostalsee in Saarland, and was contested over nineteen special stages with a total a competitive distance of 344.04 km (213.78 mi).
The 2020 Rally Sweden was a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over four days between 13 and 16 February 2020. It marked the sixty-eighth running of Rally Sweden and was the second round of the 2020 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3. It was also the first round of the Junior World Rally Championship. The 2020 event was based in the town of Torsby in Värmland County and consists of eleven special stages. The rally was scheduled to cover a total competitive distance of 301.26 km (187.19 mi), but was shortened to 171.64 km (106.65 mi) due to a lack of snow.
The 2020 Rally Italia Sardegna was a motor racing event for rally cars that was scheduled to be held over four days between 4 and 7 June 2020, but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was reset to hold between 8 and 11 October 2020 following the cancellation of 2020 Rallye Deutschland. It marked the seventeenth running of Rally Italia Sardegna and was the seventh round of the 2020 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3. It was also set to be the third round of the Junior World Rally Championship. The 2020 event was based in Alghero in Sardinia and consisted of sixteen special stages. The rally covered a total competitive distance of 238.84 km (148.41 mi).

It marked the fifty-seventh running of the Arctic Rally, and the first time the event has been run as a round of the World Rally Championship. The event was the second round of the 2021 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3. The 2021 event was based in Rovaniemi in Lapland and was contested over ten special stages totalling 251.08 km (156.01 mi) in competitive distance.
The 2021 Croatia Rally was a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over four days between 22 and 25 April 2021. It marked the forty-fifth running of the Croatia Rally, and the first time the event has been run as a round of the World Rally Championship. The event was the third round of the 2021 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3. It was also the first round of the 2021 Junior World Rally Championship. The 2021 event was based in Zagreb in the City of Zagreb Region and was contested over twenty special stages totalling 300.32 km (186.61 mi) in competitive distance.
The 2021 Rally de Portugal was a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over four days between 20 and 23 May 2021. It marked the fifty-fourth running of the Rally de Portugal. The event was the fourth round of the 2021 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3, as well as the second round of the 2021 Junior World Rally Championship. The 2021 event was based in Matosinhos in the Porto District and was contested over twenty special stages totalling 337.51 km (209.72 mi) in competitive distance.
The 2021 Rally Italia Sardegna was a motor racing event for rally cars that held over four days between 3 and 6 June 2021. It marked the eighteenth running of the Rally Italia Sardegna. The event was the fifth round of the 2021 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3. The 2021 event was based in Olbia in Sardinia and contested over twenty special stages totalling 303.10 km (188.34 mi) in competitive distance.
The 2021 Rally Estonia was a motor racing event for rally cars that was held over four days between 15 and 18 July 2021. It marked the eleventh running of the Rally Estonia. The event was the seventh round of the 2021 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3. It also hosted as the final round of the 2021 Junior World Rally Championship. The 2021 event was based in Salou in the province of Tarragona in Catalonia and was contested over seventeen special stages totalling 280.46 km (174.27 mi) in competitive distance.

It marked the forty-second running of Monza Rally Show and was the twelfth and final round of the 2021 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2, World Rally Championship-3. The event was based in the famous Autodromo Nazionale di Monza circuit near Milan, where the Italian Grand Prix was held. The rally covered a total competitive distance of 253.18 km (157.32 mi).
The 2022 Rally Sweden was a motor racing event for rally cars held over four days between 24 and 27 February 2022. It marked the 69th running of the Rally Sweden, and was the second round of the 2022 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3. The 2022 event was based in Umeå, in Västerbotten County. The rally was scheduled to cover a total competitive distance of 303.74 km (188.74 mi), but was shortened to 264.81 km (164.55 mi) prior to the start of the event due to unexpected reindeer movements in the Örträsk area.
The 2022 Rally de Portugal was a motor racing event for rally cars held over four days between 19 and 22 May 2022. It marked the fifty-fifth running of the Rally de Portugal. The event was the fourth round of the 2022 World Rally Championship, World Rally Championship-2 and World Rally Championship-3. The 2022 event was based in Matosinhos in the Porto District and was contested over twenty-one special stages covering a total competitive distance of 330.17 km (205.16 mi).
