Castile or Castille is a territory of imprecise limits located in Spain. The concept of Castile relies on the assimilation of a historical, cultural, linguistic and geographical notion, that of Castile as Spain's centro mesetario with a long-gone historical entity of diachronically variable territorial extension.

The 2022 Castilian-Leonese regional election was held on Sunday, 13 February 2022, to elect the 11th Cortes of the autonomous community of Castile and León. All 81 seats in the Cortes were up for election. This marks the first time that a regional premier in Castile and León has made use of the presidential prerogative to call an early election.

Luis Tudanca Fernández is a Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) politician who has been the party's Secretary General in Castile and León since 2014. He has been Leader of the Opposition in the Cortes of Castile and León since the 2015 elections, and was previously in the Congress of Deputies between 2008 and 2015.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Francisco Igea</span> Spanish politician

Francisco Igea Arisqueta is a Spanish politician of the Citizens party. A doctor by profession, he led the party in the 2019 Castilian-Leonese regional election, and became vice president of the Junta of Castile and León after forming a government with the People's Party leader Alfonso Fernández Mañueco. In the 2022 election, his party lost all their seats except his own. He was previously a member of the Congress of Deputies (2015–2019) and came runner-up in his party's 2020 leadership election.

As regional leaders, governors advance and pursue new and revised policies and programs using a variety of tools, among them executive laws, executive budgets, and legislative proposals.

The next Castilian-Leonese regional election will be held no later than Saturday, 21 March 2026, to elect the 12th Cortes of the autonomous community of Castile and León. All 81 seats in the Cortes will be up for election. The electoral calendar of Castile and León was altered as a result of the 2022 snap election, meaning the election will be held in a date different from that of the regularly scheduled May regional and elections in 2023.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Juan García-Gallardo</span> Spanish lawyer and politician

Juan Manuel García-Gallardo Frings is a Spanish lawyer and politician of the Vox party. He led the party in the 2022 Castilian-Leonese regional election, in which they became the third-biggest group in the Cortes of Castile and León. They formed government with the People's Party and he became Vice President.

Carlo Pollán Fernández is a Spanish politician of the Vox party. He was formerly a player, coach and president of the CB Ademar León handball club. Elected to the Cortes of Castile and León in the 2022 election, he became the President of the Cortes.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Second government of Alfonso Fernández Mañueco</span>

The second government of Alfonso Fernández Mañueco was formed on 20 April 2022, following the latter's election as President of the Junta of Castile and León by the Cortes of Castile and León on 11 April and his scheduled swearing-in on 19 April, as a result of the People's Party (PP) and Vox being able to muster a majority of seats in the Cortes following the 2022 Castilian-Leonese regional election. It succeeded the first Mañueco government and has been the incumbent Junta of Castile and León since 20 April 2022, a total of 496 days, or 1 year, 4 months and 9 days.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Spanish regional elections</span>

Regional elections were held in Spain on 28 May 2023 to elect the regional parliaments of twelve of the seventeen autonomous communities—Aragon, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla–La Mancha, Extremadura, La Rioja, Madrid, Murcia, Navarre and the Valencian Community. 737 of 1,212 seats in the regional parliaments were up for election, as well as the 50 seats in the regional assemblies of Ceuta and Melilla. The elections were held simultaneously with local elections all throughout Spain.
