    6141 Durda, provisional designation 1992 YC3 is a stony Hungaria asteroid, classified as slow rotator and Mars-crosser from the innermost region of the asteroid belt, approximately 3.2 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 26 December 1992, by Spacewatch at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona, United States. [6]

    Classification and orbit

    This Mars-crosser and presumed E-type asteroid is also member of the Hungaria family, which form the innermost dense concentration of asteroids in the Solar System. It orbits the Sun in the inner main-belt at a distance of 1.6–2.1  AU once every 2 years and 5 months (895 days). Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.14 and an inclination of 16° with respect to the ecliptic. On 22 September 2154, it will pass 0.0088 AU (1,320,000 km) from Mars. [1] Durda was first identified as 1983 AZ2 at Karl Schwarzschild Observatory in 1983, extending the body's observation arc by 9 years prior to its official discovery observation at Kitt Peak. [6]

    Lightcurve

    In October 2009, a rotational lightcurve was obtained from photometric observations by Brian Warner at the Palmer Divide Station in Colorado. Lightcurve analysis gave a rotation period of 460±5 hours with a brightness variation of 0.50 magnitude ( U=2+ ). [5] Durda belongs to the Top 100 slow rotators known to exists.

    Diameter

    Based on a magnitude-to-diameter conversion, Durda's generic diameter is between 3 and 7 kilometer for an absolute magnitude of 14.4, and an assumed albedo in the range of 0.05 to 0.25. [4] Since asteroids in the inner main-belt are typically of stony rather than carbonaceous composition, with albedos above 0.20, Durda's diameter can be estimate to measure around 4 kilometers, as the higher its albedo (reflectivity), the lower the body's diameter. [4] The Collaborative Asteroid Lightcurve Link assumes an albedo of 0.30 – a compromise value between 0.4 and 0.2, corresponding to the Hungaria asteroids both as family and orbital group – and calculates a diameter of 3.20 kilometers.     Naming

    This minor planet was named in honor of American planetary scientist Daniel D. Durda, who has researched the generation, evolution, size distribution and fragmentation of minor planets, resulting in the formation of minor-planet moons. He was especially interested in (243) Ida I Dactyl when he was member of the Galileo mission team. Daniel Durda is also a pilot and an artist of astronomical paintings. [2] In 2015, he was awarded the Carl Sagan Medal for "communicating the wonder of planetary science through visual artistry". [7] The approved naming citation was published by the Minor Planet Center on 8 August 1998 ( M.P.C. 32345). [8]

    6296 Cleveland, provisional designation 1988 NC, is a Hungaria asteroid from the innermost regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 3.5 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 12 July 1988, by American astronomer Eleanor Helin at the Palomar Observatory in California. The presumed E-type asteroid has a long rotation period of 30.8 hours and possibly an elongated shape. It was named for the city of Cleveland in the U.S. state of Ohio.

    3854 George, provisional designation: 1983 EA, is a stony Hungaria asteroid and Mars-crosser from the innermost regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 3.5 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 13 March 1983, by American astronomer couple Carolyn and Eugene Shoemaker at the Palomar Observatory in California. The unlikely synchronous binary system has a rotation period of 3.3 hours. It was named after the discoverer's father-in-law, George Shoemaker.

It was discovered on 21 September 1973, by American astronomer James Gibson at the Leoncito Astronomical Complex in Argentina. The transitional E-type asteroid has a long rotation period of 93 hours. It was named after American astronomer Carl Leo Stearns.

    1656 Suomi is a binary Hungaria asteroid and sizable Mars-crosser from the innermost regions of the asteroid belt. It was discovered on 11 March 1942, by Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä at Turku Observatory in Southwest Finland, who named it "Suomi", the native name of Finland. The stony asteroid has a short rotation period of 2.6 hours and measures approximately 7.9 kilometers in diameter. In June 2020, a companion was discovered by Brian Warner, Robert Stephens and Alan Harris. The satellite measures more than 1.98 kilometers in diameter, about 26% of the primary, which it orbits once every 57.9 hours at an average distance of 30 kilometers.

    4142 Dersu-Uzala, provisional designation 1981 KE, is a Hungaria asteroid, sizable Mars-crosser and potentially slow rotator from the innermost region of the asteroid belt, approximately 6 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered by Czech astronomer Zdeňka Vávrová at Kleť Observatory on 28 May 1981. The rare A-type asteroid has a rotation period of 140 hours. It was named after the Siberian trapper and hunter Dersu Uzala.

    (6382) 1988 EL, is a stony Hungaria asteroid from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 5 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 14 March 1988, by American astronomer Jeffrey Alu at the U.S. Palomar Observatory, California.

    7959 Alysecherri, provisional designation 1994 PK, is a bright, stony Hungaria asteroid from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 3 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 2 August 1994, by American astronomer Carl Hergenrother at Steward Observatory's Catalina Station on Mt Bigelow near Tucson, Arizona. The asteroid was named for the discoverer's wife, Alyse Cherri.

    6250 Saekohayashi, provisional designation 1991 VX1, is a bright Hungaria asteroid and relatively slow rotator from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 3.7 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 2 November 1991, by American astronomer Eleanor Helin at Palomar Observatory in California, and later named after Japanese astronomer Saeko Hayashi.
