The Alliance of Citizens for Change (ACC) is a South African political party founded by expelled Democratic Alliance member and former speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament, Masizole Mnqasela, in July 2023.
Masizole Mnqasela was a member of the Democratic Alliance for more than two decades and served in various positions, including as the Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. He was expelled from the DA in November 2022 for making disparaging remarks about the party amid him facing allegations of fraud. [1] In June 2023, he announced that he was joining a new civil movement. [2]
On 15 July 2023, Mnqasela announced the formation of the Alliance of Citizens for Change at the Rocklands Civic Centre in Mitchells Plain. [3] [4]
In August 2023, the councillor for ward 7 of the Swartland Local Municipality, Basil Stanley, joined the party. [5]
The party focuses on social justice, and is in favour of the restoration of the death penalty. [6]

The Freedom Front Plus is a right-wing political party in South Africa that was formed in 1994. It is led by Pieter Groenewald. Since 2024, it is a part of the current South African government of national unity together with the African National Congress (ANC), the Democratic Alliance and other parties.
The politics of the Western Cape differs from that of most other provinces in South Africa, because, unlike the other provinces, the African National Congress (ANC) does not dominate the political landscape. Masizole Mnqasela is a South African politician, currently the founding leader of the Alliance of Citizens for Change. He formerly served as the 7th Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. He was previously a Member of Parliament with the Democratic Alliance from 2009 to 2014, the Shadow Minister of Home Affairs, and the country's third youngest parliamentarian after the African National Congress's Mduduzi Manana, and the Congress of the People's Luzelle Adams.
Daniel Plato, known as Dan Plato, is a South African politician and a former Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. He served from June 2011 until October 2018 and again from January 2022 until February 2024. He is the former mayor of Cape Town, a position he held for two nonconsecutive terms from May 2009 until June 2011 and again from November 2018 until October 2021. From June 2011 to October 2018, he was the Western Cape Provincial Minister of Community Safety.

The Independent Civic Organisation of South Africa (ICOSA) is a minor South African political party. It was founded by former Karoo District Municipality manager Truman Prince, who was expelled from the African National Congress (ANC) in 2006. He was reinstated as municipal manager by the municipal council in June, 2007, after a protracted legal battle, but was fired from his post in August of that same year through provincial vote. Convicted child rapist Jeffrey Donson, formerly of the National People's Party (NPP), was president of ICOSA until his expulsion in November 2023.

Tandeka Gqada is a South African businesswoman, politician and a councillor for the Democratic Alliance in the City of Cape Town since November 2021. Gqada had previously served as a DA councillor in the City of Cape Town where she was an Executive Member of the Mayoral Committee. She is a former Member of Parliament for the DA (2014–2019). She served as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Human Settlements from 2014 to 2017 and as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Energy from 2017 to 2019.
Gerrit Pretorius is a South African politician and former diplomat who was a Democratic Alliance Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from December 2022 until May 2024. He was a municipal councillor of the George Local Municipality from 2016 to 2021, serving as the deputy mayor of the municipality from 2016 until 2018 and as council speaker from 2018 until he left council.
