The Pan American Games is a continental multi-sport event in the Americas featuring summer sports, in which thousands of athletes participate in a variety of competitions. The competition is held among athletes from nations of the Americas, every four years in the year before the Summer Olympic Games. It is the second oldest continental games in the world. The only Winter Pan American Games were held in 1990. In 2021, the Junior Pan American Games was held for the first time specifically for young athletes. The Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) is the governing body of the Pan American Games movement, whose structure and actions are defined by the Olympic Charter.
The 1999 Pan American Games, officially the XIII Pan American Games or the 13th Pan American Games and commonly known as Winnipeg 1999, was a major international multi-sport event that was held from July 23 to August 8, 1999, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and surrounding towns and cities. Canoeing competitions started the day before the games officially began. Approximately 5,000 athletes from 42 nations participated in the games to vie for a total of 330 medal events in 34 sports and 42 disciplines.
The Swimming competition at the 14th Pan American Games was held August 12–18, 2003 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The competition was held in the outdoor (50m) pool of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. It featured 32 long course (50m) events.
Chile is one of participating countries in the Pan American Games, the largest multi-sport event in the Americas. The Chilean Olympic Committee (COCH) is the National Olympic Committee for the country and the main organizer for its participation at the Pan American Games.
The 2019 Pan American Games, officially the XVIII Pan American Games and commonly known as Lima 2019, were a multi-sport event governed by the Panam Sports Organization held in Lima, Peru from July 26 to August 11, 2019, with preliminary rounds in certain events having begun on July 24, 2019. These were the first Pan American Games to be held in Peru, and the seventh to be held in South America.
The Swimming competition at the XVI Pan American Games was October 15–22, 2011 at the Scotiabank Aquatics Center in Guadalajara, Mexico. The open water events swam in the waters off API Maritime Terminal in Puerto Vallarta.
Athletics competitions at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara was held from October 23 to October 30 at the newly built Telmex Athletics Stadium. The racewalking and marathon events were held on the temporary Guadalajara Circuit and Route and the Pan American Marathon circuit respectively. Boxing has been contested at every Pan American Games since the first edition of the games in 1951. Until the 2007 Pan American Games was the final games with boxing as a male-only event. The 2011 Pan American Games included women's boxing in the program for the first time.

On vault, she is the 2020 Olympic gold medalist, the 2024 Olympic silver medalist, a two-time World Champion, and the 2023 Pan American Games champion. She led the Brazilian team to its first ever team medals at the 2023 World Championships (silver) and the 2024 Olympics (bronze), as well as the gold medal at the 2021 Pan American Championships. She won the gold medal at the 2024 Olympics in the floor exercise.
Flávia Lopes Saraiva is a Brazilian artistic gymnast. She represented Brazil at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris where she won a bronze medal as part of the Brazilian team. She was also part of the teams that won silver at the 2023 World Championships, gold at the 2018 South American Games and bronze at the 2015 and 2019 Pan American Games. Individually she is the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic floor exercise champion, the 2023 World Championships floor exercise bronze medalist and is a multi-medalist at the Pan American Games, South American Games, and Pan American Championships.

These are the first Pan American Games to be held in Chile, and the eighth to be held in South America.

Athletics competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru were held between July 27 and August 11, 2019 at the Athletics Stadium in the Villa Deportiva Nacional Videna cluster, with the marathon and walks being held at Kennedy Park.

The Circuito BMX held the BMX racing competitions, the Pista de skateboarding held the freestyle BMX events. Morro Solar staged the mountain biking competitions, and the Circuito San Miguel staged the road competitions. Finally the velodrome staged the track cycling competitions.
Sarah Ann Hildebrandt is an American freestyle wrestler. She won the gold medal in the women's 50 kg event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. She won bronze in her event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Hildebrandt is a four-time medalist at the World Wrestling Championships and a gold medalist at the Pan American Games. She is also a seven-time gold medalist at the Pan American Wrestling Championships.
Yusneylys Guzmán Lopez is a Cuban freestyle wrestler. She is a gold medalist at the Pan American Games and the Pan American Wrestling Championships. She is also a three-time medalist, including gold, at the Central American and Caribbean Games. Guzmán competed in the women's 50 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. Guzmán lost to Vinesh Phogat in semifinal but still qualified to the final round of women's 50 kg event at the 2024 Summer Olympics held in Paris, France as Vinesh Phogat, the original opponent of Sarah Hildebrandt was disqualified before the final game for being overweight by 100 grams. She lost to Hildebrandt, but would win the silver medal.
