The Women's Pole Vault event at the 2003 Pan American Games took place on Saturday August 9, 2003. USA's Melissa Mueller set a new Pan Am record with a leap of 4.40 metres.

Murer was coached by both the Ukrainian Vitaly Petrov, who managed the world record holders Sergei Bubka and Yelena Isinbayeva, and her husband, Élson Miranda de Souza, a former vaulter himself.

Yarisley Silva Rodríguez is a Cuban pole vaulter. She won the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics – the first Latin American athlete to win an Olympic medal in that event.

The 2013 Pan American Junior Championships was held at the Estadio Alfonso Galvis Duque in Medellin, Colombia, from 23–25 August. The competition was originally scheduled for 2–4 August in Lima, Peru. Lima was ruled out as the host and the dates were also amended in April, due to the clash with the 2013 World Games in Cali and its proximity to the 2013 World Championships in Athletics.

Shawnacy Barber Canadian pole vaulter

Shawnacy Campbell "Shawn" Barber is a Canadian track and field athlete specialising in the pole vault. He is the former world champion in pole vault having won the event with a height of 5.90 m at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing. Barber is also the reigning Pan American Games champion winning in Toronto in 2015 with a height of 5.80 m. Barber won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as well.

Alysha Newman is a Canadian track and field athlete specialized in pole vault. She is the reigning Commonwealth Games champion in the women's pole vault following the 2018 Games in the Gold Coast, where she set a new Games record of 4.75 metres (15.6 ft).
