The women's triple jump at the 2018 Commonwealth Games , as part of the athletics programme, took place in Carrara Stadium on 10 April 2018. [1] Bronze medalist Thea LaFond was the first Dominican athlete to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games. [2]

Dominica participated at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro from 5 to 21 August 2016. The country's participation in Rio marked its sixth appearance in the Summer Olympics since its debut at the 1996 Summer Olympics. The delegation included two athletes: Yordanys Durañona and Thea LaFond, both competing in the men's and women's triple jump, respectively. The former qualified for the Games by meeting qualification standards while the latter entered the quadrennial event through a wildcard place.
