Banteer railway station is a station on the Mallow to Tralee railway line and serves the village of Banteer in County Cork, Ireland. It is the next adjacent station to Kanturk, County Cork.
The station opened on 16 April 1853 and was closed for goods traffic on 2 September 1976. [1]
The 9 miles (14 km) branch to Newmarket closed to passengers in 1944, reopened for a year in 1946, then carried only occasional livestock trains until CIÉ applied to close it in 1954. [2]

Kanturk is a town in the north west of County Cork, Ireland. It is situated at the confluence of the Allua (Allow) and Dallow (Dalua) rivers, which stream further on as tributaries to the River Blackwater. It is about 50 kilometres from Cork and Limerick, and lies just north of the main N72 road, 15 km from Mallow and about 40 km from Killarney. Kanturk is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency.
The Great Southern and Western Railway (GS&WR) was an Irish gauge railway company in Ireland from 1844 until 1924. The GS&WR grew by building lines and making a series of takeovers, until in the late 19th and early 20th centuries it was the largest of Ireland's "Big Four" railway networks. At its peak the GS&WR had an 1,100-mile (1,800 km) network, of which 240 miles (390 km) were double track.

There are 22 disused railway stations on the Bristol to Exeter line between Bristol Temple Meads and Exeter St Davids. The line was completed in 1844 at which time the temporary terminus at Beambridge was closed. The most recent closure was Tiverton Junction which was replaced by a new station} on a different site in 1986. 12 of the disused stations have structures that can still be seen from passing trains.
The Cork, Blackrock and Passage Railway (CB&PR) was a 3 ft narrow gauge railway in County Cork, Ireland. The line originally opened in 1850 as a 5 ft 3 in Irish standard gauge railway between Cork and Passage West and operated steam feeder ferries to other locations round Cork Harbour. The company was heavily dependent on summer tourist traffic for a considerable proportion of its revenue. The railway was converted to 3 ft narrow gauge in 1900 in conjunction with extensions southwards to Crosshaven which were completed in 1904. The railway closed in 1932 and has since been replaced by a public pathway and nature area.
The Cork and Muskerry Light Railway was a 3 ft narrow gauge railway in County Cork, Ireland. The first part of the railway opened in 1887 and closed in 1934. A major reason for building the railway was to exploit tourist traffic to Blarney Castle.

Ferns railway station was a railway station which served Ferns, County Wexford. It opened on 16 November 1863, closed to passenger traffic on 30 March 1964 and to goods traffic on 3 November 1975, before finally closing altogether on 7 March 1977. Currently, the Irish Rail trains run fast through the site of the station on the Dublin–Rosslare railway line linking Rosslare Europort to Dublin Connolly.
