The Murray River is a river in Southeastern Australia. It is Australia's longest river at 2,508 km (1,558 mi) extent. Its tributaries include five of the next six longest rivers of Australia. Together with that of the Murray, the catchments of these rivers form the Murray–Darling basin, which covers about one-seventh the area of Australia. It is widely considered Australia's most important irrigated region.
Morgan is a town in South Australia on the right bank of the Murray River, just downstream of where it turns from flowing roughly westwards to roughly southwards. It is about 161 kilometres (100 mi) north east of Adelaide, and about 315 kilometres (196 mi) upstream of the Murray Mouth. At the 2006 census, Morgan had a population of 426.
The Shire of Mount Marshall is a local government area in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, about 80 kilometres (50 mi) north-northwest of Merredin and about 300 kilometres (186 mi) northeast of the state capital, Perth. The Shire covers an area of 10,190 square kilometres (3,934 sq mi), and its seat of government is the town of Bencubbin.

Swan Reach is a river port in South Australia 127 km north-east of Adelaide on the Murray River between Blanchetown and Mannum in South Australia. It is on the left bank of the river. The Swan Reach Ferry is a cable ferry crossing operated by the state government as part of the state's road network. Swan Reach, with all parts below Lock #1, is also one of the lowest parts of the river. In 2009–2010 the river was about 1.5 metres below its normal level. In late 2022 and early 2023 the town experienced a flood with river levels not seen since the devastating flood of 1956. Homes and businesses on Victoria street were inundated, along with most of the holiday homes at Marks Landing. Widespread damage was caused. At the 2016 census, Swan Reach had a population of 283.
Punyelroo is a town located on the Murray River in South Australia, Australia, approximately 5 kilometres downstream from Swan Reach, but on the opposite side of riverbank. The town is named after a local homestead. It accessible by sealed bitumen road most conveniently off the Sedan Swan Reach Road or by well made dirt road from Mannum. At the 2006 census, Punyelroo had a population of 256.
Nildottie is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located on the east side of the Murray River about 99 kilometres (62 mi) east of the state capital of Adelaide and about 40 kilometres (25 mi) north-east of the municipal seat in Mannum.
Jervois is a town in South Australia, on the right (western) bank of the lower Murray River. Jervois is predominantly a farming community, especially dairy farming on the floodplain and gently rising ground behind it.
Lowbank is a locality in South Australia's riverland. It is between the Sturt Highway and the left (south) bank of the Murray River east of Waikerie.
Bowhill is a locality in South Australia. A settlement is located inside a bend on the left (eastern/southern) bank of the Murray River between Mannum and Swan Reach. It is predominantly shacks built facing the river bank. The settlement is in the Mid Murray Council area, but most of the locality is located away from the river and within the District Council of Karoonda East Murray, including the Lowan Conservation Park.
Monteith is a rural locality inside a bend on the east (left) bank of the Murray River downstream (south) of Murray Bridge on the other bank. It is governed by the Rural City of Murray Bridge. The dominant industry is dairy farming on the flats near the river and other farming further away from the river. Many of the farms are long and narrow along Bells Road, with irrigated land on the river side and elevated land on the other side of the road, including a dairy and farm house.
Sunnyside is a hamlet and semi-rural locality of Murray Bridge on the east (left) bank of the Murray River. It is adjacent to the east-bank localities of Greenbanks, Willow Banks and Murrawong on the west. The residential portion of the locality, Sunnyside Shack Site is accessible from Burdett Road, via Sunnyside Road.
Murbko is a locality in the Murray Mallee region of South Australia. It is located on the left bank of the Murray River downstream of the northwest bend where the river turns to flow roughly south. The river forms the western boundary of Murbko, and the southern boundary is approximately the Sturt Highway as it crosses the mallee away from the river from the Blanchetown bridge towards Waikerie. Murbko Lutheran church was built in 1907 and is still in use.
Fisher is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located about 96 kilometres (60 mi) north-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about 47 kilometres (29 mi) north-east of the municipal seat in Mannum.
Pompoota is a locality in the Murray Mallee region of South Australia, on the east (left) bank of the Murray River, downstream of Mannum. It has shacks and irrigated floodplains near the river, and dryland farming on the higher ground away from the river. The locality of Burdett wraps around the eastern side of Pompoota, with a short stretch of river frontage south (downstream) of Pompoota.
Wellington East is a locality in the Murray Mallee on the east of the Murray River in South Australia where the river opens into Lake Alexandrina, the largest of the lakes at the end of the Murray-Darling system.
Morphetts Flat is a locality on the right bank of the Murray River downstream of Morgan in South Australia. It lies on low flat land along the inside of a long right-hand bend in the river. The locality is dominated by shack sites and houseboats. It includes a slipway used for servicing and maintenance of houseboats. Evidence that the locality is used for holiday accommodation is shown in the 2016 census when there were only 3 residents but 31 private dwellings recorded.
Cowirra is a locality in the Murraylands region of South Australia. It is on the left (east) bank of the Murray River, opposite Mannum.
Swan Point is a rural locality in the local government area (LGA) of West Tamar in the Launceston LGA region of Tasmania. The locality is about 22 kilometres (14 mi) south-east of the town of Beaconsfield. The 2016 census recorded a population of 282 for the state suburb of Swan Point.
Forster is a locality in the Murraylands region of South Australia. It lies on the inside of a bend on the east/left bank of the Murray River north of Walker Flat.
