Bishop Moore Vidyapith, Cherthala is a CBSE school run by the Church of South India (CSI) Diocese of Madhya Kerala, established in 2001. [1] The school has a student strength of over 2000 pupils and about 100 staff (teaching and non-teaching).
The school is one among the many institutions that are set by this name including those in Mavelikara and Kayamkulam.
Rt. Rev. Edward Alfred Lingingstone Moore was born in England in 1870 took his M.A. from Oxford University and became a missionary of the Church Missionary Society in India. At the age of 33 he was appointed as the principal of the CMS College Kottayam. In 1925, he was ordained as the 4th Bishop of the Diocese of Travancore-Cochin and took charge of the Diocese at Kottayam in the same year. As a Bishop he was determined to put an end to the demon of the caste system.
The Church of South India inherits a tradition from the CMS Missionaries who pioneered English education in the state and opened the portals of its educational centers to the women and other marginalised sections of the society.

The Orthodox Theological Seminary also known as Old Seminary and M. D. Orthodox Seminary is a seminary of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. It was founded in 1815 priest-monk Pulikkottil Joseph Ittoop Ramban with help from Colonel John Munro to serve the Malankara Syrian Church and to invite CMS missionaries to teach theology. At that time deacons were ordained as priests without an organized theological education. After the arrival of CMS missionaries, theological education was organized for the priests.
Bishop Moore College is an aided college in Mavelikkara, Alappuzha, Kerala, India, affiliated with the University of Kerala. The college is ranked 62nd among colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024. It was ranked 58 in NIRF 2022, 89 in NIRF 2021, 76 in NIRF 2020, in the rank band 101–150 in NIRF 2019, and ranked 92 in NIRF 2018. The college was accredited by NAAC with an "A" Grade in 2017. The college is managed by the Madhya Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India, and offers 11 undergraduate programs, five postgraduate programs, and two research programs. It is located at Kallumala, Mavelikara. The current principal of the college is Dr. Ranjith Mathew Abraham.
Benjamin Bailey was a British Church Mission Society missionary in Kerala, India for 34 years. He was ordained 1815 and moved to Kerala in 1816 where he found a mission station in Kottayam, and in 1821 he established a Malayalam printing press. He translated the Bible into Malayalam, in 1846 published the first English-Malayalam dictionary, and in 1849 published the first Malayalam-English dictionary.
South Kerala Diocese is a diocese of the Church of South India which consists of CSI churches in Trivandrum and Kollam districts of Kerala. It is one of the biggest dioceses in the Church of South India. In April 2015, a part of the diocese was removed to form a new diocese, the Kollam-Kottarakkara Diocese. In Kerala, there were, until April 2015, three other CSI Dioceses viz: North Kerala Diocese, Madhya Kerala Diocese, East Kerala Diocese. In 2010, the diocese had 352 ordained pastors, 49 retired pastors and more than 200 church workers. There are 70 districts and 623 churches in this diocese.

Kalloor Oommen Philipose Asan (1838–1880) was a priest, teacher, literary scholar, journalist, playwright and translator from Kerala, India. He was born in Kallooppara near Tiruvalla and grew up in Olassa in the present-day Kottayam district of Kerala. He was the editor of Paschima Taraka, one of the earliest Malayalam journals. The journal was a Malayalam publication from the publishers of the Cochin-based English newspaper Western Star. Philippose was fluent in English and Malayalam, and translated The Comedy of Errors into Malayalam under the title Almarattam (1866) which was the first translation of Shakespeare into Malayalam. It was also one of the earliest plays written in Malayalam and was the first play to be published as a book.
