According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.0 square miles (7.7 km2), of which 1.7 square miles (4.4 km2) is land and 1.3 square miles (3.3 km2) (43.13%) is water. [2]

As of the census [5] of 2000, there were 1,443 people, 663 households, and 422 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 323.9 people/km2 (839 people/sq mi). There were 946 housing units at an average density of 212.4 units/km2 (550 units/sq mi). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.66% White, 0.28% Black or African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.17% from other races, and 0.49% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.59% of the population.
There were 663 households, out of which 22.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 81.3% were married couples living together, 2.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.3% were non-families. 30.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.70.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 18.3% under the age of 18, 4.4% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 29.3% from 45 to 64, and 23.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
