Bow Street F.C. are based at Rhydypennau near Bow Street in Ceredigion, Wales, about 4+1⁄2 miles (7.2 km) north-east of Aberystwyth, and are currently playing in the Ardal NE League. The team are nicknamed the Magpies (Welsh : piod), from the time when their strip was black and white stripes.

The Welsh football league system is a series of football leagues with regular promotion and relegation between them.
The Central Wales Football League(formerly the Mid Wales Football League) is a football league in Wales at tier four of the Welsh Football pyramid, run by the Central Wales Football Association. The league consists of two regionally based divisions - a Northern Division and a Southern Division. The league offers a promotion route to the Football Association of Wales administered tier three Ardal Leagues. Relegation is possible to the relevant tier five level leagues in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion and Montgomeryshire.
Cemaes Bay Football Club is a football team playing in the North Wales Coast West Premier Division. Between 1995 and 1998 the club played in the League of Wales.

Bow Street is a large village in the Tirymynach district of Ceredigion, Wales, approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north-east of Aberystwyth. As well as Bow Street itself, it is now often considered to include the neighbouring smaller village of Pen-y-garn and the hamlet of Rhydypennau. All three places stretch in a long narrow strip along the main Aberystwyth to Machynlleth road, the A487.

J. Emrys Morgan Cup is an association football knockout cup competition for football clubs in the lower leagues of the Welsh Football Association pyramid in the Mid and West Wales regions. It consists of a round by round knockout with semi-finals and the final played a neutral ground. Teams are drawn to play each other home or away in rounds up to the semi-finals. The Ardal Leagues are a football league in Wales. The word "ardal" translates as "district" in English, with Wales split into four regions at this level. They have clubs with amateur/semi-professional status and sit at the third level of the Welsh football league system. The first year of their operation would have been 2020–21 but the 2020–21 Ardal North East season, 2020–21 Ardal North West season, 2020–21 Ardal South East season and 2020–21 Ardal South West season were all cancelled. The inaugural season was moved to 2021–22. The creation of the leagues mark the first time the Football Association of Wales owns and is administering tier 3 of the Welsh league system. These changes follow from a review of the Welsh football pyramid. To be eligible clubs need to meet the criteria for FAW tier 3 certification.
