The 2016 Cambridge City Council election took place on 5 May 2016 to elect members of Cambridge City Council in England. This was on the same day as other nationwide local elections. The Labour Party grouping gained two seats from the Liberal Democrats, increasing their majority on the council from 6 to 10 seats. [1]
Cambridge City Council is a district council in the county of Cambridgeshire, based in the city of Cambridge.
The Labour Party is a centre-left political party in the United Kingdom which has been described as an alliance of social democrats, democratic socialists and trade unionists. The party's platform emphasises greater state intervention, social justice and strengthening workers' rights.

(Kingston upon) Hull City Council is the governing body for the unitary authority and city of Kingston upon Hull. It was created in 1972 as the successor to the Corporation of Hull, which was also known as Hull Corporation and founded in 1440 by Royal charter.
Elections for Cambridge City Council were held on Thursday 4 May 2006. As Cambridge City Council is elected by thirds, one seat in each of the city's 14 wards was up for election. The exception was Romsey, where two seats were up for election as a by-election for the other seat was held on the same day. Therefore, 15 of the 42 seats on the Council were up for election. Overall turnout was 34.4%, down from 37.0% in 2004. The lowest turnout (28.4%) was in Abbey ward and the highest (40.8%) in Queen Edith's.
The Leeds City Council election took place on 2 May 2002 to elect members of City of Leeds Metropolitan Borough Council in West Yorkshire, England. Prior to the election, there had been several by-elections held with no change to the council composition. One third of the council was up for election and the Labour party stayed in overall control of the council.
Local elections were held in the United Kingdom on 3 May 1979. The results provided some source of comfort to the Labour Party (UK), who recovered some lost ground from local election reversals in previous years, despite losing the general election to the Conservative Party on the same day.
Elections for Cambridge City Council were held on Thursday 5 May 2011. As the council is elected by thirds, one seat in each of the wards was up for election, with the exception of Cherry Hinton ward where two seats were up for election due to the early retirement of Councillor Stuart Newbold. The vote took place alongside the United Kingdom Alternative Vote referendum, 2011 and a Cambridgeshire County Council by-election for Arbury ward.
Elections for Cambridge City Council were held on Thursday 3 May 2012. One third of the council was up for election and the Liberal Democrats lost overall control of the council, to No Overall Control.
An election to Cambridgeshire County Council took place on 2 May 2013 as part of the United Kingdom local elections, 2013. 69 councillors were elected from 60 electoral divisions, which returned either one or two county councillors each by first-past-the-post voting for a four-year term of office. The electoral divisions were the same as those used at the previous election in 2009. No elections were held in Peterborough, which is a unitary authority outside the area covered by the County Council. The election saw the Conservative Party lose overall control of the council.
The 2015 City of Lincoln Council election took place on 7 May 2015 to elect members of City of Lincoln Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections.
The 2016 Bristol City Council election took place on Thursday 5 May 2016, alongside nationwide local elections. Following a boundary review, the number of wards in the City was reduced to 34, with each electing one, two or three Councillors. The overall number of Councillors remained 70, with all seats are up for election at the same time. Elections would then be held every 4 years.

The 1999 Bristol City Council election took place on 6 May 1999, on the same day as other local elections. All seats were up for election due to boundary changes, with each ward electing 2 councillors. The total number of seats on the council increased by 2 due to the creation of a new ward: Clifton East.
The 2016 Salford City Council election took place on 5 May 2016 to elect members of Salford City Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections and the Salford Mayoral election. In April 2016, it was revealed that the Liberal Democrats would not be fielding any candidates in Salford.

The 2016 Exeter City Council election took place on 5 May 2016, to elect members of Exeter City Council in England. Following boundary changes, the entire council was up for election, and all 13 wards were contested, each electing three councillors. The election was held concurrently with other local elections held in England on the 5 May.
The elections for Oxford City Council took place on 5 May 2016. This was on the same day as other local elections. As Oxford City Council is elected by halves, one seat in each of the 24 wards is up for election.
The 2017 United Kingdom local elections were held on Thursday 4 May 2017. Local elections were held across Great Britain, with elections to 35 English local authorities and all councils in Scotland and Wales.
The 2017 Minneapolis City Council election was held on November 7, 2017, to elect the members of the Minneapolis City Council. The political composition remained unchanged, with the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL) retaining 12 seats and the Green Party of Minnesota one seat. Three DFL incumbents were defeated by intraparty opponents. The new City Council convened on January 8, 2018.
