The 2016 Cheltenham Borough Council election was held on 5 May 2016 to elect members of Cheltenham Borough Council in England. [1] [2] This was on the same day as other local elections. The result was a victory for the incumbent Liberal Democrat administration, which increased its overall majority.
Cheltenham Borough Council is the local authority for Cheltenham, which is split into 20 wards, with a total of 40 councillors elected to serve on the borough council. Since 2002, elections have been held every two years with half of the councillors elected at each election. Following the last election in 2018, there were 32 Liberal Democrat members, 6 Conservatives and 2 representing the People Against Bureaucracy group.
The Liberal Democrats are a liberal political party in the United Kingdom. They presently have 11 Members of Parliament in the House of Commons, 96 members of the House of Lords, and one member of the European Parliament. They also have five Members of the Scottish Parliament and a member each in the Welsh Assembly and London Assembly. The party reached the height of its influence in the early 2010s, forming a junior partner in a coalition government from 2010 to 2015. It is presently led by Vince Cable.

The City of Bayside is a local government area in Victoria, Australia. It is within the southern suburbs of Melbourne. It has an area of 36 square kilometres and in 2016 had a population of 97,087 people.
Tewkesbury Borough Council is the local authority for Tewkesbury Borough. Tewkesbury Borough is located in North Gloucestershire in the South West of England region. The Council itself is based in the Council Offices in Tewkesbury proper, but the borough also comprises Ashchurch, Bishop's Cleeve, Brockworth, Churchdown and Winchcombe and a number of other settlements.
