The 2018 Cheltenham Borough Council election was held on 3 May 2018 to elect members of Cheltenham Borough Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections. The result was a victory for the incumbent Liberal Democrat administration, which increased its overall majority.

Cheltenham Borough Council

Cheltenham Borough Council is the local authority for Cheltenham, which is split into 20 wards, with a total of 40 councillors elected to serve on the borough council. Since 2002, elections have been held every two years with half of the councillors elected at each election. Following the last election in 2018, there were 32 Liberal Democrat members, 6 Conservatives and 2 representing the People Against Bureaucracy group.

The Liberal Democrats are a liberal political party in the United Kingdom. They presently have 11 Members of Parliament in the House of Commons, 96 members of the House of Lords, and one member of the European Parliament. They also have five Members of the Scottish Parliament and a member each in the Welsh Assembly and London Assembly. The party reached the height of its influence in the early 2010s, forming a junior partner in a coalition government from 2010 to 2015. It is presently led by Vince Cable.

It describes itself as being opposed to 'party political' politics, and supportive of measures to make local government more transparent.
