The Open Clarins is a WTA Tour affiliated tennis tournament played from 1987 to 1992. It was held in the Paris in France and played on the outdoor clay courts of the Racing Club de France. It was a Tier V tournament until 1989 and was subsequently promoted to Tier IV, raising prize money from $50,000 to $150,000. The tournament was named for the main sponsor, Clarins, the luxury French cosmetics company. It was replaced by the Open Gaz de France in 1993.
In 2022, a WTA 125 tournament was introduced at the venue under its sponsored name, Trophee Lagardère, with a total financial commitment of $115,000.

Virginia Ruano Pascual is a Spanish former professional tennis player. She had moderate success in singles, winning three WTA Tour titles as well as reaching two major quarterfinals and a top-30 ranking, but she had been far more successful in doubles.
Barbara Schett Eagle is an Austrian former professional tennis player, who reached her highest singles ranking of world No. 7 in September 1999. Between 1993 and 2004 she played in 48 matches for the Austria Fed Cup team, winning 30. She also represented Austria at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in singles and doubles, reaching the quarterfinals of the singles event. She retired after the 2005 Australian Open and now works for Eurosport as a commentator and presenter.
Iveta Benešová is a Czech former tennis player. She began playing tennis aged seven and turned professional in 1998. She won two WTA Tour singles and 14 doubles tournaments, and one Grand Slam title in mixed doubles, partnered with Jürgen Melzer at the 2011 Wimbledon Championships. On 14 September 2012, she married Melzer and adopted his family name. She announced her retirement from tennis on 13 August 2014.

Open GDF Suez, formerly Open Gaz de France, was a Premier level tennis tournament on the WTA Tour held in Paris. Held from 1993 till 2014, the tournament was played indoors, originally on carpet until 2000, then on hardcourts. The 2014 Open GDF Suez was the last edition.
