Senate elections were held in the Czech Republic on 10–11 October 2014, with a second round on 17–18 October 2014. [1] One-third of Senate seats (27 out of 81) were elected, [1] along with approximately 62,300 local council seats. [2] The election date was announced by the President Miloš Zeman in June, 2014. [3]
Miloš Zeman is a Czech politician serving as the third and current President of the Czech Republic since 8 March 2013. He previously served as Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from 1998 to 2002. As Leader of the Czech Social Democratic Party during the 1990s, he transformed his party into one of the country's major political forces. Zeman was Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of the Czech parliament, from 1996 until he became Prime Minister two years later in 1998.

Pavel Mareš is a retired Czech football player who played as a defender at either centre-back or left-back. He played top-league football in the Czech Republic for Bohemians Prague and Sparta Prague, and played for Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Russian Football Premier League.
The European Parliament election of 2009 in Czech Republic was the election of the delegation from Czech Republic to the European Parliament in 2009. The Civic Democratic Party has won the election with a surprisingly strong lead against the Czech Social Democratic Party. Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia came third and the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party became the last party to enter the Parliament.
The Czech Pirate Party or Pirates is a political party in the Czech Republic, founded in 2009. It is the third largest party in the Chamber of Deputies following the 2017 legislative election, with 22 out of 200 seats, entering the Chamber of Deputies for the first time since its formation. The parliamentary party sits in opposition to the ruling cabinet, and party leader Ivan Bartoš serves as the chairman of the Committee on Public Administration and Regional Development. The party is represented by three Members of the Senate of the Czech Republic, the most recently elected being Lukáš Wagenknecht in 2018. In same year, the party formed a governing coalition in the Prague City Assembly and Zdeněk Hřib became the current Mayor of Prague.
Stadion v Jiráskově ulici is a multi-use stadium in Jihlava, Czech Republic. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FC Vysočina Jihlava. The stadium holds 4,082 people on an all-seater basis.

Tomio Okamura is a Czech-Japanese far-right politician and entrepreneur. He is the founder of the Czech political parties Dawn of Direct Democracy and Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD). Since October 2013, he has been Member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic (MP), initially for Dawn of Direct Democracy and then from May 2015 for SPD, of which he is also leader. He previously served as an independent Senator for Zlín district from October 2012 until his election to the Chamber of Deputies a year later.
Libor Michálek is a Czech economist, politician, and whistleblower. He led successful corruption cases against the Czech National Property Fund and the Environment Ministry as former employees of both. He is the first Pirate Party candidate to be elected to office in a national legislature. His senatorial term is 2012–2018.
Taťana Fischerová is a Czech actress, writer, television host, politician and civic activist. From 2002 to 2006, she was a member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. She was a candidate in the 2013 Czech presidential election.

Jiří Rusnok is a Czech politician and economist who served as Prime Minister of the Czech Republic between July 2013 and January 2014. Since 1 July 2016 Rusnok serves as Governor of the Czech National Bank.
The 2017 Czech legislative election was held in the Czech Republic on 20 and 21 October 2017. All 200 members of the Chamber of Deputies were elected and the leader of the resultant government – Andrej Babiš of ANO 2011, became the Prime Minister.

A by-election for the Prague 10 Senate seat was held in the Czech Republic on 19-20 September 2014 and 26-27 September 2014. The election was held after incumbent Jaromír Štětina got elected member of European Parliament. Voter turnout was 15.8% for first round and 8.75% for second round. It was the lowest voter turnout for any Senate election so far.

Jiří Drahoš is a Czech physical chemist and politician, who has been Senator for the Prague 4 district since October 2018. Previously, Drahoš served as President of the Czech Academy of Sciences from 2009 to 2017, and was a candidate for the President of the Czech Republic in the 2018 election.
Senate elections were held in the Czech Republic on 5 and 6 October 2018 alongside municipal elections, with a second round held on 12 and 13 October 2018. The Conservative Civic Democratic Party (ODS) won the election with 10 seats. Governing parties ANO 2011 and the Czech Social Democratic Party were heavily defeated, winning only 1 seat each. The Communist Party lost its last seat in the Senate when Václav Homolka failed to be re-elected, meaning the party would be without representation in the Senate for the first time in the history of Czech Republic. The election was considered the first major win for the opposition to Andrej Babiš' Cabinet. Commentators including Josef Kopecký also noted ODS confirmed their position as the main opposition party, ahead of the Czech Pirate Party.
A by-election for the Prague 9 Senate seat in the Czech Republic will be held on 5 and 6 April 2019. The incumbent Senator Zuzana Baudyšová announced her resignation on 29 January 2019. She was elected as a candidate of ANO 2011. Baudyšová resigned due to health difficulties.
