The Kenya African Union (KAU) was a political organization in colonial Kenya,formed in October 1944 prior to the appointment of the first African to sit in the Legislative Council. In 1960 it became the current Kenya African National Union (KANU).
Murang'a County is one of the counties of Kenya's former Central Province. Its largest town and capital is Murang'a,which was referred to as Fort Hall during the colonial era. He led the negotiations for independence at the Lancaster House Conferences and was instrumental in the formation of Kenya's independence party –the Kenya African National Union (KANU) –where he served as its first Secretary-General. He laid the foundation for Kenya's capitalist and mixed economy policies at the height of the Cold War and set up several of the country's key labour institutions. Mboya was Minister for Economic Planning and Development when he was assassinated.

Harry Thuku was a Kenyan born in Kiambu,Mitahato village. As a politician,he was one of the pioneers in the development of modern African nationalism in Kenya. He helped found the Young Kikuyu Association and the East African Association before being arrested and exiled from 1922 to 1931. In 1932 he became President of the Kikuyu Central Association,in 1935 founded the Kikuyu Provincial Association,and in 1944 founded the Kenya African Study Union. Opposed to the Mau Mau movement,he later retired to coffee-farming.

Ferdinard Ndungu Waititu,also known as Baba Yao,is a Kenyan politician who served as the second governor of Kiambu County from 2016 to January 2020. He was impeached on corruption charges. His troubles started after it was discovered that he was involved in a scheme of grabbing land worth over one million dollars from a widow,amongst other fraudulent activities. He is currently awaiting trial for the mismanagement of a county fund of over five million dollars. He also served as an assistant minister for Water Services and Irrigation in the government of Kenya.
Martin Nyaga Wambora is a Kenyan politician. He is the first governor of Embu County in Kenya after winning on a TNA ticket in the Embu gubernatorial elections which was conducted in March 2013. He would later become the first Governor in Kenya to be impeached,not once but twice but he successfully challenged the impeachment later and was overwhelmingly Re-elected in 2017 winning his 2nd term in office. He was a former member of parliament for Runyenjes Constituency from 2003 to 2007. Prior to becoming the governor of Embu County,he served as the chairman of the board of Kenya Airports Authority and led to its winning of the two most prestigious airport industry awards in 2011.

Tom Mboya was a well-known trade unionist,educationist,Pan Africanist,author,and a Cabinet Minister in Kenyas first post-independence Government. She is also the former First Lady of Nairobi County,Kenya's largest county and the capital city and economic centre of Kenya. Susan holds a number of board positions including the Chair of Liberty Group,a publicly traded company in the nairobi stock exchange. Susan is the Founder of the Zawadi Africa Educational Fund,a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides scholarships and leadership development training to academically gifted,marginalized African girls to enable them to attend top colleges and universities around the world with the objective of creating a pipeline of African female leaders. The Zawadi Africa program is based on the Africa Student Airlifts program launched by her father and President John F. Kennedy in 1959 that enabled several participants including Barack Obama Sr,father of President Barack Obama,and Professor Wangari Mathaai to study in the U.S.
Alice Muthoni Wahome is a Kenyan politician and former cabinet secretary for Lands,Public Works,Housing and Urban Development. Wahome was the elected as Member of Parliament for the Kandara Constituency in the March 2013 general elections and successfully defended her seat in 2017 and 2022 prior to resigning her seat to join cabinet. Wahome is a member of UDA. She was later dismissed as a cabinet secretary in July 2024.
