Gomti Nagar Railway terminus (GTNR) is a railway station (currently under redevelopment) in Gomti Nagar in Lucknow City, Uttar Pradesh. Its code is GTNR. It serves Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar, Chinhat, Kamta etc. area of Lucknow city. The station consists of three platforms.

Gomti Nagar is one of the local stations in Lucknow and lies on Barabanki–Lucknow Suburban Railway.

Redevelopment

The Gomti Nagar Railway Station is being redeveloped by the National Buildings Construction Corporation (India). [1]

The redeveloped station is planned to be equipped with amenities such as segregation of arrival and departure, basement parking, CCTV surveillance, centrally air-conditioned common spaces, an integrated building management system, treated water for horticulture use, and more. [2]

The redevelopment would be in two phases. [3]

  1. In the first phase mandatory station development comprising station buildings, air concourse, food courts, renovation of platforms and utilities.
  2. In the second phase commercial development, including retail, basement parking and external development would be undertaken.

According to the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), the station is scheduled to complete it's redevelopment by December 2022. [4]

Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is a statutory authority, under the Indian Ministry of Railways, set-up by an Amendment to the Railways Act, 1989. It is responsible for creating assets for Indian Railways through the development of vacant railway land for commercial use to generate revenue by non-tariff measures. RLDA's mission is to be a leader in creating value through the redevelopment of land and air spaces – residential, commercial, and transportation hubs. RLDA's expenses are covered through grants provided by Indian Railways. RLDA transfers the total earnings generated from the development of railway land to Indian Railways. The Indian Planning Commission has computed an approximate budget of around Rs 20 to 272 billion for the development of infrastructure nationally during the 11th plan period. Out of this budget, the Railways has an anticipated requirement of Rs 2800 billion. 83% of this requirement is supposed to be met through public sector investment. In order to generate the remaining investment required to meet the budget mentioned above, the Indian Railways set up the Rail Land Development Authority on 1 November 2006. Ved Prakash Dudeja, a 1986 batch IRSE officer, is Vice Chairman of RLDA. He joined RLDA on 7 April 2019.

Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC) was a special purpose vehicle owned by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), Ircon International and RITES. All three companies are owned by the Indian Ministry of Railways. IRSDC was incorporated on 12 April 2012.

Badshahnagar railway station is a very important railway station on the Barabanki–Lucknow Suburban Railway. It serves the Badshah Nagar locality of Indira Nagar. The station is located in a very densely populated area; thus, it handles a large amount of traffic. The number of platforms, however, can not be increased due to lack of space. The railway management has provided many services and facilities to cope up with traffic. Earlier a few trains like Gorakhpur Intercity Express used to originate / terminate here, but now it has been cancelled. Since this is small station with 2 platforms, it is now completely saturated with trains and railway is now compelled to develop Gomti Nagar as a terminal station.

Daliganj Junction railway station is one of the suburban railway stations in Lucknow district, Uttar Pradesh. Its code is DAL.

The Gorakhpur Metrolite is a light rapid transit system proposed for the city of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
