Grietje van der Meer (born August 1949) is a Dutch former kortebaan and long track speed skater, who was active between 1965 and 1976. [1]
Van der Meer grew up in Gorredijk. She attended the Drachtster Lyceum in Drachten. [2] [3]
Van der Meer was a member of speed skating club “Eendracht” and was trained by Wiebe Kort. At the age of 16, Van der Meer became Frisian girls champion in January 1966. [4] To honor her, a ceremony was organized for her in a local hotel in Gorredijk. She was congratulated by a representative of the Dutch Speed Skating Union (KNSB) and mayor W. Harmsma. [2] [3] She won several more prizes and competitions, including a golden watch. [5]
After finishing 5th in 1966 at the junior national championships, [6] she won the bronze medal at the 1967 and 1968 Dutch junior speed skating championshpis. [7] As a senior she competed at the 1976 Dutch Allround Championships, finishing 7th overall. [8]
