Meta Lansing-Nienhuis also written as Metje Nienhuis (born 20 February 1918 [1] [2] ) was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater who won many prizes in the late 1930s and 1940s.
She became champion of Drenthe in December 1938. [2] [3] In the winter of 1939-40 she won a total of 237,50 Dutch Guilder in prize money. [4] In that winter she won also in Valthermond beating Antje Koopmans and her sister Ike Nienhuis. [5] After World War II she won several prizes in the winter of 1945-46 including winning the second round in Wartena in January 1946. [6] In December 1946 she won in Makkum. [7] She was listed to be suspended from 15 January 1947 by the association of ice clubs due to competing in two competitions on the same day. [8] It's not listed if she was suspense, but she still competed in late January and February 1947; including in Thialf, [9] Makkum, [10] Wijnjeterp [11] and Leeuwarden. [12]
She was the three year elder sister of Ike Nienhuis, who became three times national champion. [4] It happened multiple times that Ike and Meta finished first and second in a competition. [5] [13] They also rode both several times the Elfstedentocht. Her 6 year older sister Aukje Nienhuis also competed in kortebaan speed competitions but wasn't as successful as her younger sisters.
Nienhuis was born in 1918 in Marum as the daughter of Mettje van Loo (1858-1898) and Roelf Nienhuis (1887-1950) who was a merchant. After living in Donkerbroek she lived in Makkinga together with her two sisters and parents in the 1940s. She came from a wealthy family that even had a car, which was a great luxury at the time. Lien van der Mei sometimes written as Lina van der Mei was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater in the 1940s and 1950s from Langezwaag. She was in her era one of the best known women’s kortebaan speed skaters.
Saakje de Jong was a Dutch kortebaan and long track speed skater and athlete from Heerenveen, who was active in the 1940s and 1950s.

Antje Nauta-Sijtema, also written as Antje Sytema and Antje Sietema was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater from Warga. She won many competitions and prizes in the late 1940s and 1960s; mainly between 1948 and 1955.
Zwaantje Annigje Schippers-Mulder was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater from Oudehorne.
Akke de Boer was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater from Huizum. She started competing in the winter of 1953–54 and started winning immediately. She won the third competition she competed in, in February 1954. She won most of her prizes between 1954 and 1958.
Geeske Koopman also written as Geesje Koopman or Geertje Koopman was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater from Oldetrijne, who was active at the end of the 1940s and 1950s.
Trijntje J. Ram-Bouma was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater from Tijnje, who was active at the end of the 1940s and 1950s.
Tjitske Hartoog-Minkema was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater, who was active at the end of the 1940s and 1950s. She was also an athletics athlete, competing until 1989. She emigrated to the United States.
