Lutske de Vries-Hiddinga (born 1941) was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater. She won competitions and prizes in the 1950s.
She won her first prizes in January 1955 in Oudeschoot. [1] In February 1956 she finished second at the championships of Heerenveen behind Ieuwkje Hoekstra. [2] The same month she won a competition in Oranjewoud. [3]
She won many competitions and even more prizes in the late 1950s and early 1960s; including winning in Gorredijk (February 1959), [4] Oudehaske (February 1959) [5] and Akkrum (December 1961). [6]
In the years after her marriage in 1964, she continued with speed skating but wasn’t that active anymore. In those years she still won some prizes. [7]
Her father went with her to skating competitions. While helping Hiddinga in February 1959 in Gorredijk, he broke in an accident his wrist. [8]
Next to speed skating she was active as an athlete with athletics club AV ‘55. [9]
Hiddinga was born in Heerenveen on a farm next to the “Rotondekerk”. She attended the Openbaar Lyceum in Leeuwarden in 1953 [10] and worked as a receptionist in Heerenveen. [9] She married at the Crackstate in Heerenveen to teacher Anne de Vries from Sneek in August 1964. [9] They started living in Almelo. [11] However in 1965 she already moved back to Friesland living in Sneek [12] and Marssum. [7]
She was a member of the board of speed skating club NVBHS Heerenveen until 1965. [13]
Het sister Tineke Hiddinga was a handball player [14] and also a kortebaan skater. [12] [11]
Saakje de Jong was a Dutch kortebaan and long track speed skater and athlete from Heerenveen, who was active in the 1940s and 1950s.
Aaltje Terpstra was a Dutch kortebaan speed skater from Siegerswoude, who was active in the late 1940s and early 1950s.
