Sietske Pasveer (1 January 1915 - 18 December 2001) was a Dutch female kortebaanschaatsen speed skater. [2] [3]
At the age of 17 she won her first prize money. Her peak year was the winter of 1939-1940 when she skated fl. 400 in price money. On 22 December 1939 she won the Dutch National Kortebaan Speed Skating Championships in Eelde, ahead of Antje Koopmans and Betsy Helder. The prices she won during her career can now be seen in the speed skating museum in Hindeloopen. [4]
She married in 1943 in Akkrum. [5]
In 1994 she was one of the speakers in the first episode of the Dutch VPRO television series Het Spoor Terug. A series about the Dutch skating culture. This first episode was mainly about the role of ice clubs and kortebaanschaatsen. [6]
Pasveer died on 18 December 2001, aged 86, in the Nij Friesmahiem care home in Grouw where she had lived for twenty years. [7]

Kortebaanschaatsen refers to an old form of Dutch ice skating tournament that goes back to the 18th century. It is not to be confused with the modern speed skating sport known as short track speed skating. The sport is similar to harness racing and is similarly setup in two straight lanes of 160 meters.
