The series began airing on ABC and other ANN stations from February 2, 2014, replacing DokiDoki! Precure in its initial timeslot with the Broadcasting System of San-in broadcasting on February 8, 2014. The first 34 episodes feature a special 10th anniversary message presented by one of the previous Pretty Cures in the franchise including the HappinessCharge Cures themselves. [30] [31] DVDs and Blu-rays of the series were released in volumes.

Film

The main characters of the series also appeared in the film Pretty Cure All Stars New Stage 3: Eternal Friends on March 15, 2014. [32] [33] The movie's single and soundtrack was released three days prior to the movie's premiere.

A spinoff movie of the series has also been revealed, titled HappinessCharge PreCure! the Movie: The Ballerina of the Land of Dolls (映画ハピネスチャージプリキュア!人形の国のバレリーナ, Eiga HapinesuChāji PuriKyua! Ningyō no kuni no barerīna) [34] was released on October 11, 2014. [35] The single and soundtrack for the movie was released on October 8, 2014, along with the anime's second ending theme single.

Music

The series uses three pieces of theme music, one opening theme and two ending themes. The opening theme is "HappinessCharge PreCure! WOW!" (ハピネスチャージプリキュア!WOW!, Hapinesu Chāji Purikyua! WOW!) by former AKB48 member Sayaka Nakaya. [36] The ending theme for the first 26 episodes is "PreCure Memory" (プリキュア・メモリ, Purikyua Memori) by Hitomi Yoshida, whilst the theme for episode 27-49 is "Party Has Come" (パーティ ハズカム, Pāti Hazukamu) by Yoshida. [37] The single containing both songs was released by Marvelous AQL (later, Marvelous Inc.) on March 5, 2014. All of the theme songs are composed by Yasuo Kosugi except for Party Has Come, which is by Hizashi, and the background music is by Hiroshi Takaki, who previously composed DokiDoki! Precure's background music. The first original soundtrack was released on May 21, 2014, with the title PreCure Sound Charge!! Also, the first vocal album was released on July 23, 2014, with the title Hello! Happiness Friends! featuring songs performed by the main characters of the anime along with the theme songs. On October 8, 2014, the single for the anime's second ending theme was released. The anime's second official soundtrack was released on November 5, 2014, with the title Precure Sound Big Bang!! Also, the second vocal album was released on November 19, 2014, with the title Shining ☆ Happiness Party. In addition, a vocal best album was released on January 14, 2015.

Manga

Like the series before it, a manga adaptation by Futago Kamikita began serialization in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine in March 2014.

Video games

The Pretty Cures debuted in HappinessCharge PreCure! were added in the new update of the Pretty Cure All Stars Data Carddass arcade game in February 2014. This update included compatibility with the collectible PreCards. A video game based on the series, titled HappinessCharge Precure! Kawarun Collection (ハピネスチャージプリキュア! カワルン☆コレクション), developed by Bandai Namco Games, was released on the Nintendo 3DS on July 31, 2014. [38] The game features all the Pretty Cures from previous series, with early editions including a download code to unlock all the Cures from the start and three exclusive PreCards. [39]

Merchandise

Throughout the anime's run, merchandise was released, including watches, weapons, transformation items, cards, bags, and more. Most of this merchandise was distributed by Bandai, the main sponsor of the series. Special PreCards were also released during the anime's run, beginning with promotional cards included in McDonald's Happy Meals in January 2014. [40]

The series aired on TV Asahi's ANN network from February 1, 2009, to January 31, 2010, succeeding Yes! PreCure 5 Go Go!’s time slot, and was succeeded by HeartCatch PreCure!.

<i>HeartCatch PreCure!</i> Japanese anime television series

HeartCatch PreCure!, or HeartCatch Pretty Cure! is a Japanese anime series and the seventh installment in the Pretty Cure metaseries by Izumi Todo, featuring the fifth generation of Cures. The series is produced by Toei Animation, directed by Tatsuya Nagamine, and written by Takashi Yamada. Character designs were done by Yoshihiko Umakoshi. The series premiered on February 7, 2010 on TV Asahi's ANN network, succeeding Fresh Pretty Cure!, and ended on January 30, 2011, where it was succeeded by Suite PreCure.

<i>Pretty Cure All Stars</i> Series of Japanese anime films

Pretty Cure All Stars or Precure All Stars is a series of Japanese anime films produced by Toei Animation based on Izumi Todo's Pretty Cure anime television franchise. Each movie features a storyline which crosses over characters from all Pretty Cure anime series to date. From Dream Stars onwards, the films instead feature Cures from the current series and the previous two series. However, All Stars F returns to the initial format by featuring all 78 Cures. As of September 2023, there are currently 14 main films in the series, All Stars movies are generally released shortly after the premiere of a new Pretty Cure television series. The most recent Pretty Cure team at the time of release generally has the largest involvement with the movie's plot. In the opening scenes of each movie, a running gag occurs, in which the most recent Pretty Cure team bump into older teams by accident. As well, the fairies of Pretty Cure teams know each other as friends. With the exception of A Wonderful Day with Everyone, each movie to date utilizes Miracle Lights, which are small flashlights handed out to audience members during screenings, with the finale encouraging viewers to wave their lights to support the Cures in defeating the main antagonist. The films often have a short segment instructing children on how to use their Lights safely. These Lights have also been made available for certain movies based on the individual series.

<i>Suite PreCure</i> Japanese anime television series

Suite PreCure is a Japanese anime series and the eighth installment in Izumi Todo's Pretty Cure metaseries. The series is produced by Toei Animation and directed by Munehisa Sakai, who directed the One Piece anime series. Character designs were done by Akira Takahashi, who previously worked on Kaidan Restaurant. The series aired on TV Asahi's ANN network between February 6, 2011 and January 29, 2012, replacing HeartCatch PreCure! in its timeslot, and was succeeded by Smile PreCure! A manga adaptation by Futago Kamikita was serialised in Kodansha's monthly Nakayoshi magazine.

<i>Smile PreCure!</i> Japanese anime television series

Smile PreCure! is a 2012 Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation and the ninth installment in Izumi Todo's Pretty Cure metaseries, featuring the seventh generation of Cures. The series is written by Shōji Yonemura, best known as the head writer of Glass Fleet and Kamen Rider Kabuto. The character designs were done by Toshie Kawamura, who previously worked on character designs for Yes! PreCure 5. Like Yes! Pretty Cure 5, the team has five members with a color scheme of pink, red, yellow, green, and blue, but unlike it the team's members are classmates in their second year of middle school. There are no additional team members. The series aired on All-Nippon News Network (ANN)'s TV Asahi network between February 5, 2012, and January 27, 2013, replacing Suite PreCure♪ in its timeslot, and was succeeded by DokiDoki! PreCure. Jitsuna Kamikita and Kizuna Kamikita, born August 11 1960 in Kōchi Prefecture, are two Japanese manga artists and character designers, twin sisters, who work together under the pseudonym of Futago Kamikita. They are best known for the manga versions of the Pretty Cure franchise.

<i>Go! Princess PreCure</i> Japanese anime television series

Go! Princess PreCure, also known as Go! Princess Pretty Cure, is a 2015 Japanese magical girl anime series produced by Toei Animation, and the twelfth installment to Izumi Todo's Pretty Cure metaseries, featuring the tenth generation of Cures. It is directed by Yuta Tanaka and written by Jin Tanaka, with character designs by Yukiko Nakatani. The series began airing on February 1, 2015, succeeding HappinessCharge PreCure! in its timeslot. The series' main topics are hopes and dreams, with the Cures' overall motifs being princesses, keys, and perfumes. It was then succeeded by Witchy Pretty Cure! on February 7, 2016.

The film is divided into three segments: Cure Flora and the Mischievous Mirror, Pumpkin Kingdom's Treasure and Leff's Wonder Night!. It is directed by Masanori Sato and written by Yoshimi Narita, with character designs by Yoko Uchida and costume designs by NaSka. It began airing on all ANN stations in Japan on February 4, 2024, succeeding Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure's timeslot. The series' main theme is bonds and its main motifs are pets and animals.
