This song was originally written for Australian singer Kylie Minogue's album Aphrodite, but plans fell through. However, Cruz and Minogue recorded a version of the song for the European release, while American rapper Travie McCoy recorded guest raps for the American release. The Brazilian and United Kingdom versions have parts of McCoy's rap mixed into the Minogue version. The version on Cruz's albums feature a solo vocal by Cruz with no guest vocalist and an edited version of the solo version was added to Radio Disney's playlist.

It is a secondary theme song of the 2011 Copa América tournament. The song has been featured in the episode "Disturbing Behavior" of The Vampire Diaries and on its sister show The Secret Circle in the episode "Masked". The song was written by Jones, Solveig, Becky Hill, Hailee Steinfeld, Kamille, Jin Jin, and Mark Ralph. The single became Jones' and Beer's first and Solveig's second number-one on Billboard's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart in its 6 July 2019 issue.
