Gameplay

Format

Under the original format, the contestant can eliminate mystery singers after each round, and ended with the last remaining mystery singer depending on the outcome of a duet performance by guest artist(s). [3]

If the singer is good, the contestant wins 10,000; if the singer is bad, the same amount is given to the bad singer instead.

Rounds

Each episode presents the guest artist and contestant with seven people whose identities and singing voices are kept concealed until they are eliminated to perform on the "stage of truth" or remain in the end to perform the final duet.

  1. First impression (German: Erster Eindruck)
The guest artist and contestant are given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance.
  2. Lip sync (German: Das Playback)
Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song; good singers mime to a recording of their own, while bad singers mime to a recording by someone else.
  3. Fact or fake? (German: Fakt oder Fake?)
The guest artist and contestant are presented with a video package containing possible clues by one of the mystery singers.
  4. Secret studio (German: Soundcheck)
The guest artist and contestant are presented with video from a recording session by one of the mystery singers, but pitch-shifted to obscure their actual vocals.
  5. Cross-examination (German: Kreuzverhör)
The guest artist and contestant may ask questions to the remaining mystery singers. Good singers are required to give truthful responses, while the bad singers must lie.
