The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (abbreviated as CPI(M)) is a communist political party in India. It is the largest communist party in India in terms of membership and electoral seats,and one of the national parties of India. The party was founded through a splitting from the Communist Party of India in 1964 and it quickly became the dominant faction.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation is a communist political party in India. The party is represented in Bihar and Jharkhand Legislative Assemblies. Since 2023,the party is also a member of the INDIA electoral alliance. In Bihar,the party has significant base amongst the Extremely Backward Castes and the Schedule Castes. It was successful in mobilising Upper Backward Caste groups such as Koeris in some districts of central Bihar,prior to the rise of Lalu Prasad Yadav. The party faced existential crisis when a large section of its Koeri and Yadav support base defected to Rashtriya Janata Dal in 1990s. However,the ideological commitment of its cadre protected it from disintegration. It staged a comeback in politics after winning twelve seats in Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2020 and by sending two of its members to Lok Sabha in 2024 Indian general elections.
The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra was a political party in the Indian state of Tripura. Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl was the president of the party. It merged with the Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Alliance (TIPRA) party on 11 June 2021.
Dasarth Debbarma was an Indian Communist politician in the Indian state of Tripura. He was chief minister of Tripura from 1993 to 1998. He was a leader of the Ganamukti Parishad and the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was also the vice-president of All India Kisan Sabha and first and yet only Tiprasa chief minister of Tripura.
Tripura East is one of the two Lok Sabha constituencies in Tripura state in northeastern India. The seat is reserved for scheduled tribes. In the first elections in 1952 the seat was represented by Dasarath Debbarma.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) held both seats,receiving a total of 1,084,883 votes with a state-wide share of 61.69%. Congress and the BJP received 31% and 3% of the state-wide vote,respectively,and won no seats.

He is a member of Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the current General Secretary of GMP the tribal wing of the party. Debbarma was Executive Member of TTAADC from 2005 to 2015. Debbarma's term expired on 17 May 2020 and following the postponement of elections a result of the global coronavirus pandemic,TTAADC is currently under Governor's rule.

Chowdhury is a member of the Tripura Legislative Assembly from the Manu in South Tripura district since 2014. Chowdhury was elected in a 2014 bye-election to this seat,after the previous incumbent,Jitendra Choudhury,resigned to take his Lok Sabha seat for Tripura East after winning in 2014. Pravat Chowdhury won the bye-election by a landslide,leading by a record margin of nearly 16,000 votes. Chowdhury won reelection to a full term during the 2018 Tripura Legislative Assembly election,but this time by a much smaller margin. His victory by 193 votes,or 0.48%,against Dhananjoy Tripura of the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura was the closest contest in the state.

He was the veteran leader of Ganamukti Parishad. He was a member of Tripura Legislative Assembly from Takarjala (1977-1988).
