John A. Rowland House in the City of Industry, California, was built in 1855. [1] It was the home of pioneer John A. Rowland, a member of the Workman-Rowland party and co-leader of the first American group of settlers to reach Southern California in 1841. John A. Rowland built this home for his second wife, Charlotte M. Gray.
The John Rowland House is noteworthy for being the oldest surviving brick structure in Southern California. Built in 1855, it features Greek Revival architecture, chosen by John Rowland. Victoria, his daughter from his second marriage, inherited the home and married Capt. John W. Hudson in 1879. Their daughter inherited the property and, in 1920, married William Dibble of Oakwell Rancho in Covina. [2] The house is currently undergoing numerous improvements in preparation for a future reopening; the interior is currently closed due to earthquake damage.
The John A. Rowland House is maintained by the La Puente Valley Historical Society. Due to ongoing restoration efforts, the house and adjacent property are currently closed to the public. LPVHS occasionally conducts tours for local schools.

The Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum is a historic house museum located at 15415 East Don Julian Road in City of Industry, California, that features the homes and private cemetery that belonged to the pioneer Workman-Temple family.
State Route 39 is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that travels through Orange and Los Angeles counties. Its southern terminus is at Pacific Coast Highway, in Huntington Beach. SR 39's northern terminus is at Islip Saddle on Angeles Crest Highway in the Angeles National Forest, but its northernmost 4.5-mile (7.2 km) segment has been closed to public highway traffic since 1978 due to a massive mud and rockslide.

The Ygnacio Palomares Adobe, also known as Adobe de Palomares, is a one-story adobe brick structure in Pomona, California, built between 1850 and 1855 as a residence for Don Ygnacio Palomares. It was abandoned in the 1880s and was left to the elements until it was acquired by the City of Pomona in the 1930s. In 1939, the adobe was restored in a joint project of the City of Pomona, the Historical Society of Pomona Valley and the Works Project Administration. Since 1940, it has been open to the public as a museum on life in the Spanish and Mexican ranchos. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Of the more than 400 sites in Los Angeles County that have been listed on the National Register, fewer than ten received the distinction prior to the Ygnacio Palomares Adobe.
The Phillips Mansion is a Second Empire style historic house in Pomona, Los Angeles County, California. It was built in 1875 by Louis Phillips, who by the 1890s had become the wealthiest man in Los Angeles County. Situated along the Butterfield Stage route, the Phillips Mansion became a center of community activity in the Pomona and Spadra area. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, making it among the first 25 sites in Los Angeles County to be so designated.

Rancho La Puente was a ranch in the southern San Gabriel Valley that measured just under 49,000 acres (200 km2), and remained intact from its establishment in the late 1700s as an outpost of Mission San Gabriel until about 1870. By modern landmarks, the ranch extended from San Gabriel River on the west to just west of the 57 Freeway on the east and from Ramona Boulevard/San Bernardino Road on the north to the Puente Hills on the south. All but 40 acres (160,000 m2), which fall within Orange County, are within Los Angeles County. The present communities of Avocado Heights, Bassett, Baldwin Park, San Dimas, Rowland Heights, Hacienda Heights, City of Industry, La Puente, Walnut, Covina, West Covina, and small sections of South El Monte and Irwindale are contained within the old boundaries of Rancho La Puente.
John A. Rowland, commonly known in Spanish as Don Juan Rowland, was an American-Mexican settler and ranchero in the San Gabriel Valley of California before it became part of the United States. Born in Maryland, Rowland moved west with his family to Ohio. As a young man, he immigrated to the Mexican territory of Santa Fe de Nuevo México. There he became a naturalized Mexican citizen and married María Encarnación Martínez, his first wife.

La Casa de Carrión is an Adobe home built in 1868 by Saturnino Carrión. It is currently located in La Verne, California. The La Casa de Carrión was designated a California Historic Landmark on Dec. 14 1945. When La Casa de Carrión was built it was on the Rancho San Jose land. The Casa de Carrion the land was owned by Carrion's uncle Ygnacio Palomares and his business partner Ricardo Vejar. Ygnacio Palomares had built his own home, Ygnacio Palomares Adobe, near by in what is now Pomona, California in 1855. The land of Casa de Carrion was gifted to Saturnino Carrión by Ygnacio_Palomares. The adobe home was built in a "L" shape with the front of the house facing north. Saturnino Carrión, his wife, Dolores, and their three sons moved into La Casa de Carrión at completion. The three sons were: Ramon del Refugio, Julian and Frank. Saturnino and Dolores married on 15 May 1865 at the Plaza Church in Pueblo Los Angeles. Born at La Casa de Carrión to Saturnino and Dolores were daughters: Josefa, Agatha and Louise. Saturnino Carrión raise livestock on his ranch at La Casa de Carrión. Saturnino Carrión grew up in the City of Los Angeles, the only child of Casiano Carrión and Josefa (Lopez) Carrión. Julian continued to run the ranch after his father died.
