Kanda, Wyoming (Kanda gorge) is a former train stop west of the city of Purple Sage, Wyoming in Sweetwater County. The Kanda elevation is 6,204 feet (1890 meters). It was served by the Union Pacific Railroad and used from 1868 till about 1971. The stop was 7 miles west of the Rock Springs station. [1] [2] . In 1868, the Union Pacific Railroad arrived at Kanda as part of the first transcontinental railroad. [3] [4] [5] The second track, put along the first track, which was laid in 1968, was installed in 1910. [6] [7]

The Union Pacific Railroad used the site as a train stop, as Kanda was a stagecoach stop on the Overland Trail Route, the Overland Stage Line. [7] [8]
